In the MMA latest updates, Valentina Shevchenko has reassured fans that she will not be out of action for too long.

Following her controversial split draw with Alexa Grasso, Shevchenko confirmed that she had injured her thumb during the fight.

Shevchenko’s Injury

“I did everything; it doesn’t matter. I broke my finger in the first round. My thumb, and now it’s like I cannot move it, and I felt it through a whole  round. I felt like if I stop the fight. I cannot continue then all fans gonna be will be frustrated a little bit because they want to watch the fight. This fight should continue,” Shevchenko

In the aftermath, the fighter did reveal that she would be undergoing surgery. The initial diagnosis was that the MMA fighter would be out for around three months before she would have a chance to even train.

And it seems that Shevchenko is doing everything in her power to come back as soon as possible by undergoing surgery straight away. And that will please the fanbase moving forward.

Shevchenko’s Return

“Right now we’re speaking about scheduling it next week and I hope to have it the sooner, the better for me because the sooner I have the surgery, the sooner the recovery will start and the sooner I come back to the action. My understanding is like two or six weeks, something like that, in a cast, but I still can do exercise and maintain my shape just no hand. After that, it’s going to be recovery and as I’m told, three or four months in full action, so it doesn’t sound that scary, Shevchenko said

Those words will be vital in Shevchenko’s attempt at getting a rematch. The latter made it clear that she was keen on having a rematch in Kyrgyzstan on Independence Day.

White’s Reaction

In addition, Dana White also spoke about the need for a rematch. He felt that the rivalry was not over following the controversial split draw.

The CEO of the UFC could not fathom why Mike Bell had given Grasso a 10-8 scorecard in the last round, with many feeling that Shevchenko had done enough to win three rounds.

Thereafter, the Nevada State Athletic Commission did hold a meeting to give further clarity on what a 10-8 round should be. While that does nothing to prevent the result, it does demonstrate the need for further guidance. After all, even White could not hold back on his anger towards the scorecard.

“I was on vacation when this thing happened and I was sitting at my house…I found out that one of the judges scored 10-8. I’m like, this guy should be f***ing investigated for this.  This the is the craziest sh*t that I’ve ever seen in my life…So they’ve assured me that this guy isn’t a bad guy. He just f***ed up and made a mistake, and it’s unfortunate. And there’s no way in hell that was a 10-8 round,” White
