UFC's Casey Kenney Released After Kidnapping And Assault Charges

Authorities have released UFC Bantamweight fighter Casey Kenney after he was released on charges of kidnapping and assault.

Kenney was arrested in Arizona, as the authorities will determine the nature of any punishments. His ex-girlfriend’s mother has previously said that Kenney had beaten her daughter. The clip below shows the mother standing outside Kenney’s home as she calls the police. She admitted that Kenney had disclosed he had beaten her, leaving her in mass distress.

“Again my daughter press charges he barricaded himself in he home and no arrests were made as of today. He’s still a free man. Incident happened Monday, July 22, 2024. This is the second video after I got my daughter out of Casey’s house all bloody, shirt torn off, barefooted. Officers had just left after doing a well-check on my behalf. He threw her and told her not to come out or he was going to kill me,” Kenney

Kenney’s Career

Kenney’s career has also taken a major dive. His last fight was in 2021, when he lost at UFC 265 against Song Yadong. It was the second time he had been defeated in a row after coming up short against Dominick Cruz at UFC 259. His failure to get another fight has also been due to his injuries. He has faced controversy from other fighters about his conduct.

In 2021, he faced intense backlash after his sexual remarks about another UFC fighter, Megan Anderson. Kenney made an appearance on the “The Timbo Sugarshow’ show. He was asked if he would ‘smash’ the UFC fighter. Rather than shut down the question and call it out for being appropriate, Kenney proceeded to respond. As he did so, his comments were called out for being unsavory.

“Probably not, man. She’s not too … well, I mean, if it came down to it, and it was like 5 a.m., 4, she’s a 5 a.m.-er, 4 a.m.-er. Just us two hanging out, like…let’s do it,” Kenney stated

Kenney’s History

The UFC did not respond to those comments, leaving Megan feeling uncomfortable. This was because he was fighting on the same card at UFC 259. That increased the uncomfortable nature of the comments, as Megan responded.

“I guess MMA is a line of work where you can publicly talk about whether you’d have sex with a coworker in an utterly degrading way and face zero consequences. Disgusting behavior and it’s unfortunate that he’ll be fighting on my card in March,” Megan stated

While Kenney would later apologize, the comments were not forgotten.

“I’m sorry this upset you. I will be more careful with my words. [And] I was just answering a question and thought it was all a joking matter. I see I was wrong and I’m sorry. Best of luck with training camp and your fight,” Kenney replied

The UFC fighter now faces a battle to save his reputation, as he may never fight in the UFC again.
