Tyson ‘Struggling’ With Depression After Jake Paul Loss – ‘Back To Living’

Mike Tyson feels depressed following the conclusion of his fight with Jake Paul.
Tyson returned to professional boxing when he faced off against The Problem Child on Netflix, the first time the platform aired a boxing match. There were major concerns heading into the fight based on age and Tyson’s health. Mike got into the ring as a 58-year-old, looking for his first pro fight since losing to Kevin McBride in 2005. He also pulled out of the initial date after suffering from an inflamed ulcer. Since then, Tyson admitted he felt he could have died. Ultimately, Tyson was no longer the same fighter. Paul outboxed him to an easy unanimous decision win.

But the fight generated huge sums, with Tyson picking up a $20 million purse while Paul received $40 million. The fight also generated huge records. 60 million households watched it across the globe, making it the most-watched fight ever live. But Tyson was not going to win, given what he had revealed.
He admitted that he wore a compression sleeve on his knee to nurse a potential injury. But now that the fight is over, fans will be delighted that both boxers made it out in one piece. And yet, Tyson did show some initial concerns when he said he could not remember what happened during the fight, claiming he blanked out.
“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little. I remember coming back from the first round, and Jake is doing some kind of, I don’t know what he was doing [a bow]. That’s the last thing I remember. I don’t remember [the fight]. But my body was really sore [afterward]. My chest, and my stomach was really sore… The day after I woke up, I said to my wife ‘Why did I do that?’. I just don’t know what the hell was going on,” Tyson said

He has now said that he has struggled to deal with the bout’s conclusion. He misses the training and the intensity of trying to prepare himself.
“The payday wouldn’t change his life. [I] kind of depressed. That fight was such a big ascent—we were so up and high, we were so excited. The fight’s over, boom. Wow, I’m kind of depressed a little bit. We got to get back into our living situation, back to living. We were training for nine months,” Tyson stated
There is always a chance that Tyson could make a return. In his post-fight comments after the Paul fight, he admitted that he was not sure if he would retire. He also called out Logan Paul. The latter stated that he would kill him in the ring. Tyson has nothing else to prove in the sport. He is a former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. Any further fights simply risk harming his legacy. ‘Father Time’ catches up with everyone. Tyson’s last performance showed that.
