Tyson Fury Mocks Anthony Joshua For Punching A Mattress

Tyson Fury has mocked Anthony Joshua for punching a mattress in a social-media clip of the boxer training.
Joshua is certainly known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to his training methods. After hiring his new trainer, Derrick James, AJ has gone back to some old-school methods.
The boxer first posted a clip of him chopping some trees in the intense heat, as the former unified heavyweight champion aims to get back to the top of the division.
That is one thing, but Joshua resorted to an unconventional method of punching a mattress. The following clip shows the star practicing his hooks, jabs and the right cross as he moves around the mattress.

It is not exactly clear if Joshua’s clip was simply for his social media presence or if it reflected a change in his methods. Regardless of what the case may be, Fury was not going to let it slide.

Despite this being the case, Joshua’s plans are quite clear. He is expected to fight on August 12th, 2023, with the opponent likely to be Dillian Whyte.
And given his performance against Jermaine Franklin the last time around, the Brit does need to do something different.
The failure to knockout Franklin suggested that Joshua was keen on fine-tuning his boxing fundamentals.
However, a potential fight against Deontay Wilder will require more than that. Fury’s trilogy against the ‘Bronze Bomber’ showed that putting the American on the backfoot was the key to victory.
And if the new training methods help change AJ’s mindset, then so be it. And by the looks of it, James could be the man to do just that.
“I feel like Derrick James as an individual is one of the best coaches I’ve seen and spoken to, and I really respect him. If you put Derrick James anywhere in America, anywhere in the UK, I would still get the benefits of working with him.
“He’s a hard worker, he only retired 13 years ago so he’s got that fresh memory of what it’s like to be in tough fights. I like the fact that he pushes me to get fight fit,” Carl Froch
