Tszyu And Spencer Make Weight

Tim Tszyu and Joey Spencer made weight for their upcoming junior middleweight fight.

Tszyu hopes to remind everyone of his world title credentials by returning to winning ways after losing his last two bouts. He suffered his first defeat against Sebastian Fundora, as he lost his WBO Junior Middleweight Belt. He had the chance to win an immediate world title in his next fight against Bakhram Murtazaliev for the IBF Junior Middleweight Belt. However, he was stopped, raising question marks over his future. Spencer is hoping to expand his profile as he faces his toughest test on paper. His current record stands at 19-1-0. He suffered the first loss of his career when he faced Jesus Ramos in 2023. However, he has recovered strongly with three wins on the spin. Tszyu hit the scales at 154 pounds, while Spencer weighed 153.75 pounds.

Reaction

“A lot of times the weight cut is a battle, and then (with IBF title fights) there’s the next battle with another weigh in. I don’t know why they do it, but I’m glad it’s not on for this one. I’m filled out. I feel strong. I didn’t have to lose anything extra, thank God. It ain’t easy getting down to this weight on my side, and probably ain’t easy on his side. But I’m already, right now standing here, heavier than what I was in Orlando. Yeah, easy. I’m allowed to drink, I’m allowed to eat. I’m not supposed to only have 200 grams of rice, 100 grams of chicken. It’s fuelling myself up for tomorrow. My country, my town. Let’s defend it. The talking is done. Let’s get it on,” Tszyu

““I could put a clip together of all the fidgeting he’s been doing. Every time they ask him about his chin getting checked, every time they ask about his father’s legacy, ask about his legacy, he is all over the place. I’ve noticed that happening. So if he thinks that means something , it must. Because he’s doing it all the time.”All the need for talk is done. We’re ready to fight,” Spencer
