Tsarukyan Submits Hooker, Demands Ilia Topuria
Arman Tsarukyan defeated Dan Hooker via a second-round submission at UFC Qatar, as he called out lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.
Tsarukyan stared the fight on the front foot, as he began to smother him, closing the distance and landing solid shots in the pocket. Tsarukyan successfully took the fight to the ground, where his superior strength and control were on display. The damage was so extensive that Hooker’s corner struggled to even manage the swelling around his eye before the second round began.
Hooker came out in the second round, landing a three-strike combination involving both kicks and punches. But the momentum was short-lived. Tsarukyan returned to his wrestling, mauling Hooker and easily securing another takedown. As they hit the ground, Hooker seized the opportunity, locking up a guillotine choke. Tsarukyan, however, expertly defended the submission attempt, turning the position and smoothly transitioning to an arm-triangle choke. Hooker had no choice but to tap out.
