Topuria Confident About Beating Holloway - 'Go In And Take His Head Off'

Ilia Topuria is confident ahead of his fight with Max Holloway at UFC 308 on Saturday, as shown by his training footage.

Topuria has his first fight since knocking out Alexander Volkanovski At UFC 298 to secure the UFC Featherweight Title. It was a momentous victory, as he ended Volkanovski’s four-year reign as a champion. He also handed Volkanovski his first stoppage defeat at that weight class after the Australian had recently moved up twice to lightweight to take on the current champion, Islam Makhachev. The victory also took Topuria’s undefeated record to 7-0, with five stoppages inside the distance. The win made him one of the best fighters in the world. Now, he will take on another elite fighter in the form of Holloway.

Holloway is also coming off a spectacular victory after knocking out Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. He was ahead in the fight but still decided to trade with Gaethje in the final round. However, it paid off as he stopped Justin after connecting with a massive right hand to end the fight with a second left to go, making it one of the most memorable finishes in UFC history. The win made him the BMF Champion.

Topuria On Holloway

This fight is not for the BMF title but for Topuria’s UFC featherweight belt. The Georgian is known for his supreme conditioning, as shown by his footage. The following footage shows him hitting the mitts as he goes through intense training. He will need to be on the top of his game, especially since Holloway is also known for being a relentless fighter. Based on how things were going and the weight cut, Topuria was ready to put on a big performance.

“I feel amazing. This is the last part of the training camp, cutting weight, and that’s it. On Oct. 26 I’ll take what belongs to us, which is victory. It’s [training camp] been … a bit more professional. We always try to implement new skills and things we’ve learned from past experiences. I always felt like I was the best in the world, and I still have that same feeling. The plan is simple: Go in and take his head off. That’s it. I’ll point to the ground in the first 10 seconds and give the fans the most exciting 10 seconds in UFC history,” Topuria said

Topuria knows there are major fights on the line. Volkanovski revealed that he had been promised the winner of this fight, with suggestions that it could also take place at UFC 312 in Sydney, Australia. Topuria has also indicated his desire to face off against Islam Makhachev. The pair have been exchanging verbals on social media. In order for that fight to be made, Topuria would have to move up to lightweight. This is something Volkanovski did on two occasions, but unfortunately, he came up short. But a win over Holloway could result in a Topuria-Holloway fight, leaving the Georgian with plenty to fight for, come fight night.
