Tommy Fury Calls Out Conor McGregor

Tommy Fury has called out Conor McGregor for a boxing fight.

Fury wants to follow up on his win over KSI in his last fight. That was after he had given Jake Paul his first-ever loss. Those wins signalled that Fury was not interested in pursuing the traditional boxing route of winning a world title. Fury is earning more than what a lot of boxers will make by fighting weaker opposition. A McGregor fight would fit that bill. Conor has only had one boxing fight. Floyd Mayweather stopped him in 2017 in the tenth round. Recent reports also linked McGregor with a boxing exhibition against Logan in India.

It is alleged the fight would have earned McGregor $250 million. There are conflicting reports over whether this fight will happen. Logan has said his focus is on WWE full-time. Meanwhile, Jake Paul has also been mentioned as a possible opponent. More recently, KSI has said he wants to put his name into the conversation. While Tommy cannot command big purses like those other fighters, having McGregor on board would help his cause get a career-high payday.

Fury Reacts

If Fury does not get that fight, he could still pursue the Jake Paul rematch. Paul previously offered him a two-fight deal. One fight would be in boxing, while the other would be in MMA. Reports indicated the deal was worth between $15-20 million. It would allow Tommy to secure more life-changing money.

But the problem is that he may well lose in MMA. Paul has a wrestling background and signed with the PFL in 2023. While he has not made his PFL debut, Jake will no doubt have been training to prepare for it. But Fury was also pictured training with UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall. Fury said he was willing to face Paul in MMA once he got the right amount of training.

Fury’s Other Options

“I’m gonna smash his face in when I get good at MMA. I’ll beat him in boxing and the cage. Big useless [idiot]. I reckon a year-and-a-half, to two years of training, until I’ll beat him in a fight no problem in the cage. He’s got the funds, he’s got the best sparring partners in the world. So, he’s doing alright. But, no match for me. I swear to you, next time I fight him, I’ll knock him out. In MMA, I just want to give him a big fat (throws knee). All elbows, no fists,” Fury said

But Paul recently said that he has moved on from Fury, meaning Tommy must rack up more wins to increase the narrative for the fight. Paul earned $40 million for facing Mike Tyson, which will be the baseline he looks to get in the future. Whether a Fury rematch can generate anywhere near is anyone’s guess, leaving Tommy with the search to find a big name to fight.
