The PFL Wants To Make Wilder Vs Ngannou And Paul Vs. Diaz In MMA

Donn Davis, the chairman of the PFL, has offered Nate Diaz $15 million in an attempt to get him to fight Jake Paul in an MMA bout.

The talk over such a fight has been ongoing ever since their boxing fight on August 5th, 2023. During the course of that process, Paul beat Diaz via a unanimous decision. Despite not offering much in the fight, Diaz managed to make it to the final bell on his boxing debut. It was all the more impressive, given that he had to get off the canvas in round five.

Following the fight, Paul promised to have an MMA fight with Diaz, given that the latter had crossed over. That was followed up by a $10 million offer to fight in the PFL, something which Diaz failed to take up. Thereafter, Paul moved on to face Andre August on December 15th, 2023, in what will be his second fight against a professional boxer. Nevertheless, Davis had not given up hope of making a fight.

Paul Vs. Diaz

“Nate will do it when he wants to do it so I’m just trying to create a canvas that we’re open for business. It’s like the old Motel 6, ‘we’ll leave the light on’ so I just want to leave the light on and I want to say, ‘here’s $15 million, here’s Jake, we have all the infrastructure at PFL and we’re easy to work with. Dink, the light’s on … $10 to 15 [million]. I’m just letting him know, the range is there. There’s a higher end of the range and a lower end of the range. Like, beep, the light’s on,” Davis

Aside from the Diaz fight, Davis was also attempting to create an MMA fight with Deontay Wilder and Francis Ngannou. The former has spoken about his desire to face Ngannou in an MMA and boxing fight, which first started after the former UFC heavyweight champion faced Tyson Fury. And given that Ngannou had put on an impressive performance against the Gypsy King, which resulted in him sending Fury to the canvas, the talk over a fight has now been brought up again. And Davis was willing to do that again.

Ngannou Vs. Wilder

“I still think it will be a mixed-rules fight. And, I still think Deontay Wilder is the most likely opponent [for Ngannou]. [Francis] will fight for PFL in 2024, we don’t know if it’s first or last quarter. That would be unbelievable. I think the second and third options are much less compelling. So we don’t want to force those options in order to get [Ngannou] in Q1. We’re listening to Francis, and he’s sequencing his options. He has a great boxing option and this great crossover option,” Davis stated

Those are some big plans that the PFL has in store for their fans. And following their recent acquisition of Bellator, the quality of their fights will only increase moving forward. And there is no getting away from that.
