Terence Crawford’s Coach Predicts Excuses Will Follow For Spence

Terence Crawford’s coach, Bomac, has predicted that a number of excuses will follow if his fighter beats Errol Spence Jr. on July 29th, 2023.

The duo are set to fight each other for the biggest fight in boxing, as the winner will become the undisputed welterweight champion of the world in the four-belt era for the first time.

The narrative entering into the fight, though, has been centred around whether or not Spence is the same fighter that he used to be.

This has been on the basis that Spence has been away from the ring for 16 months since his win over Yordenis Ugas.

Not only that, but Spence has suffered from two car crashes, one of which resulted in his retina being detached.

Although Crawford is the favorite with the bookies, Bomac has suggested that a Crawford win may not be enough to satisfy the critics.

“I bet you this. When Bud beat his ass, there’s gonna be an excuse. They gonna move the goalpost back a little bit further. They gonna come up with something. Just watch,” Bomac

Despite this being the case, it is important to bear in mind the following points. There is a rematch clause in the contract, which reportedly allows either side to exercise it in the event of a defeat.

Not only that, but given the manner in which the fight has been delayed prior to the current agreement, the boxing community may not be so forgiving of any excuses.

With that being said, Crawford has stated that he will have to earn the respect by dethroning the unified champion in Spence.

“Y’all are going to witness greatness. We measure greatness by eras. July 29, I’m going to show everyone why this era is the Terence Crawford era.

“A win shows that I’m the greatest fighter of the era. No man has captured undisputed in two weight classes. That solidifies me as the greatest fighter of this era.

“People after this fight are gonna say that Bud Crawford is special. I can assure you that. He’ll give me my respect after the fight after I whoop that ass,” Crawford
