Terence Crawford Blasts Ryan Garcia's Circle - 'To Watch A Man Self-Destruct, What Friend Are You?

Terence Crawford has given his take on Ryan Garcia’s recent behavior.

Garica is currently serving a year ban after failing VADA tests for Ostarine. The news meant Garcia’s win over Devin Haney became a no-contest. Garcia’s behavior also spiralled further out of control. He was arrested after causing $15,000 worth of damage to the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. This was after claims the hotel staff cut his alcohol supply.

The WBC also banned Garcia after his controversial comments on X. He made a series of derogatory remarks against Muslims, Christians and African Americans. To top things off, Ryan’s ex-wife, Andrea Celina, accused him of breaking into her apartment after she refused to allow him to see his kids. This was after claims he had been engaging in substance abuse. Garcia has said he will go into rehab, but Crawford felt those around the boxer could be doing more to help.

Crawford Reacts

“I don’t have a relationship with [Garcia] like that, that’s not my place. The guys that surround him, for you to call yourself a friend, a brother, a cousin, to watch a man like that self-destruct. What type of friend are you? Anything that I do that’s gonna challenge me, anything negative, or lead me down the wrong path, there’s not one person in my camp right now that wouldn’t grab me and be like ‘Hey, why you doing that?’

“Whether I agree with them or not, now there’s an argument with them because they care about me so much. ‘Imma take the fire because [I’m] wrong, and [they’re] gonna tell me I’m wrong, and [they’re] not gonna let [me] be wrong because [they] love you that much. If you go fight somebody, you gonna have to fight me…and that’s everybody in my camp, no matter who it is,” Crawford said

Garcia’s Future

It is vital that Garcia keeps himself in a good frame of mind. His ban expires in April 2025, meaning he must be cleared by the boxing commissions if he is to fight again. There are still massive fights out there for him. The most telling one would be the Devin Haney rematch.

Garcia will argue that the amount of Ostarine in his system was insufficient to enhance performance and, therefore, had no bearing on his victory. As for Haney, he will be desperate to prove he can win on a level playing field. Garcia’s profile has gotten bigger since the Haney fight, giving him more leverage moving forward.

However, there are also issues outside of boxing that Garcia must deal with. He has been vocal about not being able to see his kids, something which he now has the time to rectify. In addition, Garcia’s mother is suffering from breast cancer.

His mother has been integral to his career, supporting Garcia through his rise from the amateurs. While Garcia has said he will enter rehab, he was previously away from the sport for around two years with mental health problems after his Luke Campbell win. This time, he will hope to come back stronger.
