Teofimo Lopez Classes Himself As A Future Hall Of Famer – ‘No Doubt’

Teofimo Lopez has proclaimed himself as a future hall of famer in light of his accomplishments. 

Lopez is a two-weight world champion, on top of being a double lineal champion at both lightweight and junior welterweight, as his undisputed status has been questioned.

His victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko saw him win the franchise title, as Devin Haney held the WBC belt.

Meanwhile, Lopez’s victory over Josh Taylor was when the latter vacated all his titles except the WBO belt. But in any event, Lopez beat the best in both divisions. 

While there was a bump along the way with a loss to George Kambosos Jr, the ‘Takeover’ has no doubt that he is one of the all-time greats.

“Teofimo is a Hall of Famer no doubt. Two-time undisputed world champion, 25 years young, two divisional world champion, two-time lineal world champion. I accomplished all of my goals. I’m happy with what I did,” Lopez

Despite this being the case, the 25-year-old does have an asterisk next to his name. After having decided to retire from the sport, there will be question marks if Lopez does not fight the rest in his era including Haney and Gervonta Davis.

Not only that, Lopez continues to make controversial statements outside of the ring including his recent one in which he vowed to kill Josh Taylor.

And in any event, after having had just 19 fights as a 25-year-old, Lopez has not even entered his peak. 

So the fact that he is demanding a return to the sport with a nine-figure payday suggests that currency is being put over legacy.

“The only way you get Teofimo back is a nine-figure contract deal because I’ve made ESPN over $100 million, and I’m still getting paid $1 million a fight.

“All these other fighters that have not even done a quarter of what I’ve done and accomplished in the sport, they’re getting $8, $10, $12, $15 million. So, obviously, I’m the black sheep of the industry,” Lopez
