Teo Slaps Barboza During Face-Off, Ryan And Haney's PED Saga

Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero’s second kick-off presser produced many verbal shots from the headlining fighters.

The fight has been scheduled for May 2, which will form Ring Magazine’s first U.S. show. It will take place from the iconic Times Square, New York City. Ryan has plenty of doubters to prove wrong, as he fights for the first time since he tested positive for Ostarine after his Devin Haney win. The win became a no-contest, as Ryan picked up a one-year ban. Romero bounced back from his Isaac Cruz loss, where he lost his WBA Junior Welterweight Belt, to beat Manuel Jaimes. Romero questioned whether Garcia wanted to be a boxer, saying his focus is on the limelight instead. He referenced Ryan’s failure in world title shots.

Romero On Garcia

“He still hasn’t been champion, though. The only times that he’s ever had the opportunity to be champion, was with Gervonta [Davis], but instead of trying to sacrifice the extra pound and trying to make 135, he decided not to. With Devin [Haney], we clearly know, he didn’t even try to. He doesn’t want to be fucking champion. He wants to be a model. The only reason Ryan’s in his position is because he has a bunch of followers. He likes to hang out with a bunch of Tik Tokers,” Romero said

Haney has his first appearance since the Ryan fight against Jose Ramirez. Devin is no longer the WBC Junior Welterweight Champion after he vacated to move up to 147. Victory for Haney will secure him the coveted Ryan rematch.  Ramirez is coming off a loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. However, there is no better time to face Haney who faces questions over his chin. Haney took time to confront Ryan over his failed PED tests as the two exchanged verbals.

Garcia And Haney

Haney: “How did you test positive?”

Ryan: “Corruption at its finest. They couldn’t take the loss. What’s up? I see you. [And] I don’t want to touch that. I don’t know what you’re doing with your hands, buddy.”

Haney: “You took your punishment because you knew you were guilty.”

Ryan: “Ostarine don’t protect you from blocking a left hook. You got hit 1000 times. [And] you got dribbled off the canvas. You know nothing was taken. You know damn well.”

Haney: “Kids, do not do drugs. Do not do drugs, kids. PEDs.”

Ryan: “You had that in your back pocket.”

Lopez’s Slap

Meanwhile, Teofimo Lopez will face Arnold Barboza Jr. The Takeover puts his WBA Junior Welterweight Belt on the line as he teams up with Eddy Reynoso for his first fight. Lopez beat Steve Claggett in his last bout, while Barboza Jr. overcame Jack Catterall to get his chance of facing Lopez for the world title. Teo showed no mercy at the face-off as he slapped Barboza, causing security to break things up.

Teofimo Lopez: “I’m a giant slayer. I slay every giant they talk about, and although I don’t think Arnold Barboza is a giant, I know who’s behind it.”

Arnold Barboza Jr: “Fake.”

Teofimo: “I ain’t no fake. You fake it until you make it. We made.”

Barboza: “Shut your ass up. You ain’t fought nobody.”

Teofimo: “Imagine that. They got to lie. They lie all the time. [And] They can’t believe their own lies.”
