Superbon Seeks Opportunity to Fight for Featherweight Muay Thai Crown

Superbon Singha Mawynn isn’t afraid to tackle multiple combat disciplines. The current ONE interim featherweight kickboxing champion would like to demonstrate his superiority to the world in Muay Thai. It’s a unique situation for Superbon, who likely won’t get an opportunity to fight for the belt next, even with a win.

Jo Nattawut, who is the No. 2 contender in the division, is already lined up to fight Tawanchai for the belt next. However, ONE still paired Nattawut up with Superbon, according to online boxing news, to see what Superbon, who is the No. 1 contender, can do. There was great demand for Nattawut to get another shot at the title after he lost two close decisions to Tawanchai.

While the trilogy will excite fans, Superbon recognizes that this will be a tough test for him. Superbon has had plenty of success in ONE’s kickboxing divisions but has yet to bring home a Muay Thai title. He also lost a decision to Tawanchai.

“Jo is indeed a heavy hitter,” Superbon said. “But I have fought with a lot of heavy punchers like him, like Marat Grigorian, Giorgio Petrosyan, and Chingiz Allazov in kickboxing. I think everyone I’ve fought in kickboxing has heavier punches than Jo. I’m confident that I can handle him.”

This fight will headline an exciting lineup of fights headed for pay-per-view. The event will be held at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.

Nong-O Starting To Build Career Back Up

Nong-O Hama, 37, faces the pressure every ex-champion faces. Once you get closer to 40, people start to wonder how many good fights you have left. Nong-O held the ONE Muay Thai bantamweight title for nearly four years after he won the inaugural belt in 2019.

After seven title defenses, Nong-O dropped the belt to Jonathan Haggerty in April 2023. Things got worse for Nong-O according to the MMAfighting latest news. Nong-O followed up his loss to Haggerty with another knockout loss to Nico Carrillo.

Now, Nong-O will have to take on undefeated Russian prospect Kiamran Nabati. Nabati is 21-0 so far during his career. He hasn’t spent too much time battling it out in ONE. He is 3-0 in the promotion so far but is coming off his first knockout win.

If both men fight their best, this could upstage the main event. Nong-O wants to prove to everyone that he is still just as motivated to be a champion, and this is a great opportunity to do so. Nabati is under pressure to attempt to stay undefeated. Fighters in Muay Thai often don’t protect that record for long due to how often they fight.

Segawa Ready for Return

There was a lot expected of Takeru Segawa when he made his debut in ONE. While there is still time for him to become a champion someday, Segawa must focus on getting his first victory. When Segawa debuted, he ended up losing to Superlek Kitamoo9 by decision.

This flyweight kickboxing fight will have Segawa under a lot of pressure to succeed. He wants to try to set up a future fight with ONE legend Rodtang Jitmuangnon. Segawa will also have the challenge of taking on Thant Zin.

Zin has made a big impact since joining ONE. He debuted with the promotion in August and has won both of his fights by knockout in the first two rounds. The latest boxing news online shows that it will be more difficult for Zin as he continues to fight tougher competition.

Anane Continues to Prove Himself at Bantamweight

Nabil Anane started his career as a flyweight. But since moving up to bantamweight, Anane’s success hasn’t slowed. The 20-year-old will try to prove his early success is no fluke when he takes on Soe Lin Oo in a bantamweight Muay Thai fight.

Anane has won four straight fights in ONE after he debuted with a loss to Superlek in June 2023. Following Anane’s victory in his last fight, he moved up to No. 4 in the bantamweight rankings. Protecting that spot against Soe Lin Oo will be important.

Soe is a long-time veteran of the fight game and has excelled since joining ONE last February. He has collected three knockout wins in the past seven months. If he continues doing that, he should be in a position to fight for a championship sooner rather than later.

While Anane is only 20, he has plenty of professional experience. He competed in his first professional fight in 2015 and has since won the WBC Muaythai World Lightweight title. Anane has built up a considerable pedigree and would like to continue to grow his brand.

Former Champions Ready to Battle it Out

Hiroki Akimoto and Ilias Ennahachi are both accustomed to being on high-profile fight cards. But each combatant in the bantamweight kickboxing division would like to be in a higher position on this upcoming card this weekend. Akimoto used to be the bantamweight kickboxing champion.

However, things have been rough for Akimoto recently. He is on a two-fight losing streak, losing each bout by decision. Overall, Akimoto has compiled a 6-3 record in ONE, showing great cardio.

Five of Akimoto’s six victories have gone the distance. Ennahachi is moving up to bantamweight after capturing kickboxing gold at flyweight. Ennahachi is moving up in weight to seek out a different challenge. His time in ONE has yet to see a blemish.

Ennahachi has won four straight fights, including a knockout of Aliasghar Ghodratisaraskan in February.

Here are the rest of the fights on the card not listed above:

  • Muay Thai (featherweight), Shadow Singha Mawynn vs Mohammad Siasarani
  • Muay Thai (133-pound catchweight), Jaosuayai Mor Krungthephthonburi vs Suriyanlek Por Yenying
