Subriel Matias Calls Haney A ‘Chicken,’ Prograis Frustrated With Haney
Subriel Matias, the IBF junior welterweight champion, has called out Devin Haney.
The ‘Dream’ is currently in negotiations to take on the WBC champion at 140 lbs, Regis Prograis.
Although that may be the case, the pair have not yet agreed terms, despite Prograis having signed his side of the contract.
Prograis, in response, suggested that Haney was looking to find a way out of the fight.
The ‘Dream’, however, indicated that the venue had not been finalized which was the reason for the hold up.
In and amongst this, though, Matias has thrown his name into the hat by mocking Haney’s ‘chicken’ fighting style.

“I like Devin Haney in this fight [against Prograis]. I think he [Haney] has good technical, but he doesn’t have heart. He’s a chicken. He’s running. He’s running a lot. Devin Haney, I want to fight you. Please give me the opportunity. I don’t think he has the good power for the pounds [for the weight class],” Matias said
Meanwhile, Prograis has also responded to the delay in proceedings for a potential fight with Devin Haney.
The latter confirmed that he had signed his side of the contract, with the only hold up coming from Haney’s side.
And since Prograis is in the postion to call the shots in the division, Devin does not have a lot of time left to get things over the line.
After all, Prograis is not looking to hang around, as he even suggested that a fight with Adrian Broner could be possible.

“I definitely wanna fight Devin. For sure I wanna fight Devin but I’m not gonna wait around. They got other fights for me. AB out there. And to be honest, me and AB might be a bigger fight.
“And if not AB, I’ll fight my mandatory, I’ll fight Sandor Martin…I’m not just about to wait around just for them to play around and s**t. I’ll just do whatever,” Prograis
Either way, Haney is a man in demand which is why he must capitalize on the chance to become a two-division champion.
