Spence Vs. Crawford Predictions Featuring Keyshawn Davis, Ryan Garcia And Abel Sanchez

Keyshawn Davis is confident that Terence Crawford will stop Errol Spence Jr. on July 29th, 2023.
Both fighters have had their respective media workouts with less than two weeks to go before the fight.
And with their legacy on the line, both fighters are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era.
Crawford has stopped all of his opponents at welterweight, despite being the smaller man, which included impressive wins over Kell Brook and Shawn Porter.
And given that Davis has spent some time with Crawford in the gym, he is well aware of what the WBO welterweight champion can do.
Keyshawn Picks Crawford
“I’ve never seen Terence looking so good and working so hard. I’ve been training with him for a good while now, he is like a mentor to me. His focus is absolutely crazy.
“I have never seen him like it before. He will stop Spence, I am in no doubt. BoMac schedules our sessions at the same time, which is great for me, I learn so much.
“Training with Terence during the Spence camp, it has just been so intense, I’m looking to putting on my best display yet,” Davis said
However, Spence will be no pushover. The unified champion has managed to overcome two car crashes to secure a shot at creating history. And it will take a special performance from Crawford to come out victorious.
Garcia Picks Spence
As such, Ryan Garcia has picked Spence to defeat Crawford. Garcia is well aware of Spence’s capabilities having recently joined Derrick James to become his stable mate.
The consensus is that Spence’s high volume output and pressure could be too much for Crawford to deal with.
While that may be the case, Garcia predicts a points win for Spence as he expects ‘Bud’ to toil in the later rounds due to the constant pressure being imposed on him.
“I feel that Errol is going to do what he does. He’s going to put that pressure on him, and he’s going to start getting to him in the later rounds.
“It’s going to be a good fight, but Spence is obviously going to win by a decision. I think by unanimous, but we’ll see. Terence is a bad man too, but I got Errol,” Garcia
Sanchez Picks Spence
Much in the same way, former trainer Abel Sanchez picked Spence to come out victorious. Sanchez knows a thing or two about boxing having coached Gennady Golovkin during the height of his career.
And given that he has worked with such a hard-hitter, Sanchez backed Spence to be too much for Crawford.
He highlighted Spence’s youth and physicality as being the key elements that would break Crawford down.
“I don’t think he’s even peaked yet. I think there’s more to see from Errol Spence. Fighting guys like Terence and top guys in the welterweight division is going to make him even better.
“I think they’re both very talented, but I think the bigger guy, the younger guy, the less miles he has than Terence,” Sanchez
In addition, Sanchez felt that Crawford’s best days were at junior welterweight.
After all, ‘Bud’ did manage to become undisputed at 140 lbs. However, it is worth bearing in mind that Crawford has stopped all of his opponents at welterweight, showing that he is no light touch.
Not only that, but Crawford has stopped his opponents in more impressive fashion than Spence. Victories over Shawn Porter and Kell Brook were done by stoppages, while Spence couldn’t shut out Porter.
And yet, Sanchez questioned Crawford’s suitability at welterweight.
“I think Terence is a good fighter, but 140 lbs is his weight with great welterweights that I think Errol is. I think half the fight will be very tactical, with both guys having each other try to make a mistake, but I just see Errol pulling away because of his size, his youth, and because of his skills.
“Crawford will try switching back & forth to try and confuse Errol, but I don’t think that’s going to help him,” Sanchez
Given the split in the predictions, it is clear that the fight could swing either way. Provided that the fight goes ahead as planned, fans could see a rematch depending on how close the bout is due to the existence of a rematch clause.
And for Sanchez, he did expect it to be a tight fight.
“I think it’ll be an 8-4 or 7-5 type of fight. I don’t think so because neither of the guys has shown that they want to be in a drag-out kind of fight,” Sanchez
The fight promises much, but whether it delivers is another matter. Floyd Mayweather’s bout with Manny Pacquiao ended up being one-sided, so the question is how will Spence-Crawford end? Time will tell.
