Sonnen Warns Cormier As TUF 33 Trash Talk Begins

Chael Sonnen has started his trash talk with Daniel Cormier after the recent announcement that they will be part of The Ultimate Fighter 33 series.
Reports indicate that the show will air via ESPN on March 27. This will be the 20th season of the show, which has had some of the biggest names in combat sports. Last season’s show featured Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso, who went head-to-head as rival coaches. That eventually resulted in the pair facing off in a trilogy in the Octagon. Valentina beat Grasso to become the UFC Flyweight Champion. Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler were also part of the show on TUF 31.
Sonnen On Cormier
Chandler won the team challenge, while McGregor won the individual coach’s challenge. They were meant to face off in the Octagon at UFC 303. But The Notorious withdrew after breaking his toe. Cormier has achieved more than Sonnen in his career. He won belts at light heavyweight and heavyweight. His biggest wins were over Stipe Miocic and Anderson Silva. Sonnen never won a world title. However, he has experience with the TUF series. He came on TUF 17 and The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3. Sonnen now has the chance to get the better of his man on the show.
“DC stands for Daniel Cormier and he used to be a fighter. This guy, he was good. With the takedowns and such, he actually wrestled out in college. … This guy beat Pat Cummins. I mean, this guy is the real deal. Nobody knows who he is…I wouldn’t call Daniel stupid. I like him a lot. But if stupid had a cousin, it would be Daniel Cormier,” Cormier said
Sonnen’s Return
Sonnen then went on to comment about his prospect of coming out of retirement. He mentioned how the Global Fight League had attempted to get him to fight. The league recently announced their new roster. Former UFC fighters such as Chris Weidman and Tyron Woodley will take part. Reports indicate that 120 fighters have joined, and they will make up six teams. The league has been praised for paying fighters big amounts. Sonnen recently returned to fighting, having had an exhibition against Anderson Silva last year. That suggested that he could be tempted to return to fighting. But Sonnen has now confirmed that he turned down the chance to participate.
“Please, did they try to get Chael Sonnen? They are still trying to get Chael Sonnen,” The UFC Hall of Famer stated. “It would be irresponsible – like I don’t mind when those phone calls come in, no matter if I already know ahead of time whether or not I’m going to go. What I would mind is if that phone call wasn’t placed. That would be a very irresponsible thing to sign the people they’re signing, to do what they’re trying to do, and to not call Chael Sonnen. Of course, they called. I’m not going to fight…I have entered the phase where it would be weird. So no, I am not going to fight” Sonnen stated
