Sonnen Has Doubts Over McGregor vs. Paul Fight – ‘Conor Is Not Boxing Logan’

Chael Sonnen has cast doubt on Conor McGregor boxing Logan Paul.
McGregor confirmed there were talks for him to box Logan in India in an exhibition. Reports indicated that a $500 million pot would be split evenly between the pair. There were also suggestions Jake Paul could get the fight instead of Logan. McGregor has not been in combat sports since 2021. Dustin Poirier beat him at UFC 264, giving him his third defeat out of his last four fights. McGregor suffered a broken leg, which has kept him sidelined. The Irishman also pulled out his UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler with a broken toe.
The Logan fight was seen as a way for McGregor to remain active, pick up a big purse and then make his UFC return. He still has two fights left on his UFC deal. However, he has not boxed since 2017, when Floyd Mayweather stopped in the tenth round. The fight does more harm for McGregor’s legacy if he were to lose. Conor is a professional fighter, even if he is not a boxer. Meanwhile, Logan has boxed but is more active in WWE. But Sonnen has shut down any suggestions that it is true. He felt the circumstances around the fight made no sense.
Sonnen Reacts
“There is a very big, former champion that’s a star of the mixed martial arts, his name is Conor McGregor, he is claiming that he’s going to get $250 million to go box Logan Paul in India for a billionaire investor who wants to bring attention and tourism to India. Not a single word is true. You’ve got to understand, Conor is not boxing (Logan) Paul.
“There is not a billionaire in India looking to bring people over and change tourism. That is something exclusively done by a government and that government has done it in one place which is in the Middle East. And third, there’s no cheque for $250 million dollars so, he kind of went right down the list of joking. He’s kidding. You’re not supposed to believe any of that to be true,” Sonnen said
McGregor’s Future
If McGregor does not get in the ring, it is tough to see where his next fight is. He previously announced that he would face Dan Hooker on February 1 in Saudi Arabia. But that will not happen as Israel Adesanya faces Nassourdine Imavov in the main event. Meanwhile, the full card has already been announced. Dana White has said McGregor will likely fight later in the year if he returns. Conor can try to remain active or keep himself in the gym.
But the Irishman has shown a lack of discipline. He has regularly been pictured drinking in a lifestyle that will only harm his career. He also admitted using cocaine, which came to light during his civil sexual assault lawsuit, which was filed by Nikita Hand. McGregor was found liable in that case, putting further pressure on his career. The next few months are critical for McGregor moving forward.
