Shakur Stevenson Wants All The ‘Smoke’ At Lightweight – ‘Reach Out’

Shakur Stevenson has put the whole 135 lb division on notice by publicly calling for his next opponent.

Stevenson may be a two-division champion, but he is very green when it comes to the lightweight division.

His only fight at the weight class was against Shuichiro Yoshino, but a sixth-round stoppage captivated the boxing community. In doing so, Stevenson became the mandatory for Devin Haney’s WBC title.

And following the latter’s win over Vasiliy Lomachenko, the American proclaimed he’s ‘number one’ in front of Stevenson ringside, who was left to address the media alone as Haney walked off.

Thereafter, reports emerged that Haney was considering moving up to 140 lbs in order to fight Regis Prograis.

Meanwhile, Gervonta Davis is currently serving a prison sentence for violating the terms of his house arrest in relation to a hit-and-incident.

So the fact that two of the division’s biggest names may not be available has left Stevenson calling out the whole weight class.

Those words have been echoed by Stevenson’s manager, J. Prince. The latter expanded on how Haney is the number one target, given that he does possess all the belts.

However, the ‘Dream’ is in no hurry to fight Stevenson, having proven himself in the division.

Consecutive wins over George Kambosos Jr, to win and then defend his undisputed titles, was followed up by a unanimous-decision win over Lomachenko.

But in reality a win over Stevenson would go a huge way to securing the American’s legacy, as would a win for Shakur.

“Yeah, there’s no question mark. We want that fight, and we are available, we’re ready, we’re waiting, and the only way that fight don’t happen is they don’t want it.

“When a person don’t want to fight, it’s a lot of ways of saying they don’t want it. One of the best ways is they overbid themselves. So we just know we’re ready and waiting.

“That’s private, but the most important thing is we’re ready. Shakur definitely wants a piece of his a**. I think the fans want to witness the fight because I think it would be a good one. So it ain’t on us. We’re ready,” J. Prince said
