In some boxing news, Shakur Stevenson has backed Teofimo Lopez to get the better of Devin Haney at 140 if they ever fought.

As of now, Haney is getting ready to face Regis Prograis on December 9th, 2023, for the latter’s WBC belt at 140. This will be the Dream’s first fight at the weight class, with a win making him a two-division champion.

Meanwhile, Lopez is the current WBO champion at 140, as well as having been elevated to the status of a super champion. So provided that Haney does overcome Prograis, then a unficaiton bout against Lopez could materialize.

Haney and Lopez’s rivalry has been building ever since the latter questioned Haney’s initial WBC belt at 135. After all, the Dream was given the belt after the current champion at the time, Vasiliy Lomachenko, became a ‘franchise’ champion.

Thereafter, Haney was known as an ’email champion’. But since then Haney has managed to become the youngest ever undisputed champion of the four-belt era.

This has left the door open for fight with Lopez as the ‘Dream’ beat George Kambosos Jr. to achieve it. After all, the Australian was the same man who gave Lopez the first defeat of his career. Nevertheless, Stevenson has backed Lopez to come out on top if they fought.

Stevenson Picks Teofimo

“Right now, Teo [is the top guy at 140lbs now]. It’s a great fight, I would favour Teo right now,” Stevenson said

Lopez is a two-weight and two-time lineal champion, showing that he cannot be taken lightly. And following his impressive win over Josh Taylor to secure the WBO belt at 140, the ‘Takeover’ is a match for anyone.

Meanwhile, Terence Crawford would have to put on his best performance to get the better of Canelo Alvarez at super middleweight.

That is according to Kyrone Davis. Bud has indicated his desire to face the Mexican at 168, which would require him to jump up three weight classes. Alvarez would be the favorite, given the fact that he has campaigned at the weight class consistently since 2019.

Not only that, but Jermell Charlo had shown the difficulties in carrying power up the weight classes when the American lost to Alvarez after moving up from 154.

Kyrone, who happens to have sparred both men, felt that Crawford would find it tough to get the win.

Kyrone Davis Picks Canelo

“I do think Canelo is a little big. He’s a little big for Crawford, and it would be a tall task for him to win. It would be a lot to get that victory based on size alone. Not that size wins fights, but you have a guy that has size and skills. It would be hard. Nothing is impossible, but if I had my money on someone winning the fight, it would be Canelo Alvarez.

“Terence Crawford is a great fighter; they’re both great fighters. You got two great fighters in there. I think one guy [Canelo] has the advantage due to his body make up his body, and how big of a person he is. I think that would be a deciding factor in that fight,” Davis said
