Serrano Creates History As She Will Box Under Men’s Rules

Amanda Serrano will create history when she faces her WBO featherweight mandatory Danila Ramos in a three-minute per round fight over 12 rounds.
Serrano will put her undisputed titles on the line on October 27th, 2023, from the Caribe Royale Resort, Florida. The fight will create history in that Serrano will box under the same rules as men.
And given that the seven-division world champion has already created history, this is another milestone to go with the rest of them. Serrano arrives into the fight in good form.
Serrano’s Rise
She secured the WBO featherweight title in 2019 when she overcame Heather Hardy, which was followed up by five defenses of the belt.
Thereafter, Amanda won all the belts when she defeated Erika Cruz to become the undisputed featherweight champion. Although this was followed by a loss to Katie Taylor, the fighter has bounced back since then.
In her last fight, Serrano beat Hardy again in a unanimous decision. As for Ramos, she became the WBO mandatory on August 28th, 2023. This was following her split-decision win over Brenda Karen Carbajal to win the interim belt.
Serrano-Ramos Reaction
“Danila Ramos may be my WBO mandatory challenger, but when we step in the ring, she will understand exactly why I am the undisputed featherweight champion. But this fight is about more than some belts. We have faced a long and hard battle, united as women, to achieve the same pay, respect, and recognition in boxing.
Together, on Friday, October 27, we will make history and prove to the world once again, how incredible women’s boxing is and that we are just as tough, dynamic, and capable as any man in the ring, if not more so. This is a fight for women everywhere to be treated the same as their male counterparts,” Amanda Serrano
“Fighting Amanda Serrano for 12 three-minute rounds for a unified championship is set to break the barriers that we women have been looking to do for many years. We will go down in history and in the books, it will be a fight of two women warriors! I am preparing like never before for this fight and will proudly represent Brazil as we battle in Orlando, Florida and I look to bring all the belts home,” Danila Ramos
