Sean Strickland Attacks Du Plessis At UFC 296: Du Plessis Reacts
Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis were involved in a brawl at UFC 296 ahead of their fight at UFC 297.
The pair will face off on January 20th, 2024, as Strickland makes the first defense of his middleweight title. The champion won the belt from Israel Adesanya as he shocked the world to win by a unanimous decision. He now takes on Du Plessis, who is the number-one-ranked contender.
But rather than wait for the main event, the pair were involved in an altercation. In the following video, Strickland walks through the crowd towards Du Plessis. That is when the champion started swinging as the pair were involved in a brawl. Security removed Strickland from the arena. The feud continued on social media, with Strickland being very vocal.
Strickland On Du Plessis
“I go hard on everyone I know this, izzy mouth feeding his dog, Dricus kissing his coach and grabbing his cup. Omally talking about sharing his wife in a podcast. You’re a man, on a world stage doing this in public And what do you pick? “You got abused as a kid ha,” Strickland revealed
That got the attention of many UFC fighters, who could not believe the pair were seated near each other.
Now, Du Plessis has had his take on the matter.
Du Plessis Reacts
“I’m 5-0 in the T-Mobile Arena and tonight I officially became 6-0, so I’m happy with that. Getting my money’s worth here at the show, but yeah, I mean it’s probably not a good example but here we are. Things happen and nobody got hurt, all is good.
“The fact that he’s triggered only plays to my advantage. I can’t believe how easy it was to mentally trigger him. I thought, here’s Sean Strickland, he’s just bashing everybody, ranting about everything and everybody. One little sentence and the man loses his mind. Shows you how easily mentally he’ll be broken,” Du Plessis stated
