Sean O’Malley Trains With The Arizona Cardinals
Sean O’Malley was putting in the work during a training session with NFL team Arizona Cardinals.
O’Malley has a big fight coming up next month when he defends his UFC Bantamweight Title against Merab Dvalishvili on September 14 at The Sphere in Las Vegas. The venue has its first combat sports event during Mexican Independence Weekend, making it historic. O’Malley defeated Marlon Vera at UFC 299 in his last fight to set up this bout against the leading contender Merab, who has ten wins on the bounce.
O’Malley knows a win sets up a possible fight with Umar Nurmagomedov, who is undefeated with a 6-0 record. To get an edge, O’Malley trained at the Phoenix-based team, which is based in his hometown. The following footage shows Suga wearing the club’s jersey as he trained alongside club player Kyler Murray. They shake hands, take pictures, and entered the field. The video shows O’Malley sprinting as he catches the ball. Once the dust has settled, O’Malley looks back at the event with fondness.
O’Malley Reacts
“It always trips me out when people are huge fans, especially when they’re 6-foot-4 250 pounds, and they’re pumped to meet the Suga show. But it’s really cool. Overall, it was just an incredible day. These drills are probably the closest I’ll get to being in the NFL, but I’ll take it. The Cardinals are my team now. I live 20 minutes from the stadium. I’ve been here for ten years, so this feels like home and I’m excited to get back into it and have a team to root for,” O’Malley said
However, Merab has shown a completely different demeanour. He has raised concerns over whether he will turn up on fight night. He shared some footage of himself getting cut, as he had some stitches. Dana White hit out at the UFC fighter for sharing that, as it gave O’Malley an insight into his camp.
Merab’s Controversy
Merab reassured everyone he would be fine, although Suga had doubts. Dvalishvili then raised further controversy when he shared another video of himself removing the stitches with a massive pair of scissors. Once again, Merab did not need to show that; White hit out at the fighter.
“The whole world knows about Merab’s cut, he posted it. Our guys are so dumb, it’s next-level unbelievable. All the stuff that I talk about boxing, what I will give boxing, is when something happens in the camp, man, let me tell you what, it does not leak. And our guys can’t f***ing wait to put it up on social media…It’s a small cut, no big deal, but obviously needed to be posted. And why the f*** would you want him to know that? It is next-level stupid, some of these guys are so stupid it’s…mind-boggling, it’s unbelievable,” White stated
With approximately two weeks left to go before the fight, Suga looks more comfortable, while Merab deals with some setbacks. Will that prove crucial? Time will tell.
