Sean O’Malley Kicks Fan’s Butt—Literally!

Sean O’Malley entertained a strange request from a fan by kicking his butt.

The incident happened as part of O’Malley’s trip to Japan. He had been there for a meet and greet event. This was part of a wider RIZIN: Decade event. Fans got the opportunity to see Suga up close. One fan took his opportunity to make a random request. He wanted the UFC fighter to kick him up the backside. The video shows the fan crouched down. O’Malley paces around several times as though he is thinking about whether to go ahead with it. Sean decides to go ahead, kicking the fan. As he does so, the fan drops to the floor.

O’Malley’s Kick

Outside of that incident, O’Malley will hope to get his UFC career back on track. He is coming off a defeat against Merab Dvalishvili. The fight took place at UFC 306 at The Sphere. It was the first combat sports event at the arena, meaning O’Malley had the chance to fight on the biggest stage. But he came up short as he suffered a one-sided unanimous defeat. In doing so, he lost his UFC Bantamweight Belt. It was the second defeat of his career. Sean also disclosed that he suffered an injury on his hip. He had surgery, which is expected to keep him out of the ring until next year, around May.

“I have surgery on Oct. 3. I tore my left labrum in my hip. That’s the only reason I’m going to be out for so long. This surgery should only take two months to come back from, then a couple of months of recovery. A year is a long time, could be six to eight months. You never know,” O’Malley said

Merab’s Aim

O’Malley’s last opponent, Merab, is looking for a massive year in contrast. He will face Umar Nurmagomedov on January 18 at UFC 311. It will be the first defense of his title against the undefeated fighter. Nurmagomedov is undefeated with a 6-0 record, winning in a variety of manners. He has stoppage wins, submissions and victories on the cards. Umar defeated Cory Sandhagen in his last fight by a unanimous decision. If Merab comes through this fight, he has targeted numerous fights next year. He plans to fight four times, with bouts against Petr Yan and O’Malley being some of them.

“I want to win this fight and I want to be busy in 2025. I’m fighting [Umar] on January 18th, and then I want to stay busy. I know [Sean] O’Malley wants to come back in April, and I think Petr will be ready in March. So, maybe fight Petr in March, and then a rematch [with O’Malley] in April. Whoever will be [the next] contender I will take, and I’ll clean out the division again,” Dvalishvili said

Dvalishvili has to ensure that he does not overlook Umar. But if he secures a win, it will send a massive statement in the bantamweight division.
