Scull Says He Will Eat Canelo; Alvarez Hits Back – ‘He’s Going To Eat Punches’

Canelo Alvarez and William Scull exchanged verbals ahead of their Undisputed Super Middleweight Title fight on May 3.
Alvarez aims to become undisputed for a second time by adding Scull’s IBF title. Canelo lost his IBF title after he chose to face Edgar Berlanga in his last fight rather than Scull, who was his mandatory. Canelo beat Berlanga via a unanimous decision, while Scull defeated Vladimir Shishkin to win the vacant title. Canelo knows a win sets up a mega fight with Terence Crawford in September.
Scull is confident coming into this fight. He is now a world champion with a Cuban boxing background, making him a tricky proposition. However, his stock has been questioned following his sparring with Conor Benn. Nigel Benn claimed that Conor had dominated Scull in sparring in preparation for his Chris Eubank Jr. fight.
Canelo Vs. Scull
Those comments did not make Scull look good, especially since Benn is not a 160-pounder. He boxes at 147, while he moved up from 154 to take on Eubank at 160. Scull did not endorse those comments, as he vowed to eat an ageing Canelo. He felt Alvarez was on the decline, as Canelo is now 34-years-old. However, many fighters have tried, meaning the pressure is on Scull to back up those words.
“They can say whatever they want. Even commentators can say whatever they want. It’s their criticisms because they really don’t know. The knockout comes when it needs to come. A fight is a fight, and we’ll see if that difference will make a different fight on Saturday. If he has more knockouts or not, they just come in handy, but in my book, I’ve done my work and I’m able to do a great fight on Saturday,” Scull said
“He’s going to eat punches, that’s what he’s going to eat. He’s Going To Eat Punches,” Canelo stated
