Scott Coker Addresses Bellator’s Sale Rumors – ‘Hard For Me To Really Comment’

In some MMA news, Scott Coker, the President of Bellator, has addressed the rumours that the organisation could be sold.

According to reports, the PFL has long been linked with buying the organisation out with suggestions that it would take $500 million in order to make the deal happen.

Although that may have been the case, there has been nothing to suggest that the process for a sale has begun. Instead, Bellator will continue to hold fights in 2024, with no suggestions that it is slowing down anytime soon.

But for all of the rumours that were circulating, Coker did not have anything concrete to report on. After all, the Coker was not in a position to provide the answers by virtue of not being the owner.

Coker On The Sale

“Keep in mind: I don’t own Bellator. Bellator is not my company to own or to sell or to keep or to merge. It’s owned by Viacom, and they have a process that they do, and they’re doing what they need to do. It’s not something I own to sell or not sell. It’s hard for me to really comment on (the situation) because it’s completely different. Now, there are some feelings that feel the same, but at the end of the day it’s not my company,” Coker said

As of now, Bellator is preparing for its next event on November 17th, 2023 at Bellator 301. That will feature a bout between Yaroslav Amosov and Jason Jackson for the welterweight title.

The card also features a stellar co-main event as Sergio Pettis takes on Patchy Mix for the undisputed bantamweight championship of the world.

But in and amongst that, the uncertainty surrounding Bellator still continues. But moving forward, Coker was hopeful that the organization’s future could be resolved soon.

Coker On White

Much in the same way, Coker refused to address the background noise that had been coming from Dana White. The latter recently confirmed that having Bellator in the MMA field would be better for the sport.

“Why on God’s green f******* Earth would anybody buy Bellator? So what we were just talking about with business and making the right moves and making the right decisions, there’s been lots of bad ones — Bellator would be one of the f****** biggest. Why anybody would buy Bellator is beside me,” White

However, those comments have also been preceded by a negative perception over its standing. But rather than go back-and-forth with White, Coker was focused on what Bellator was doing moving forward.

“We have a great company, and when you’re talking about clear No. 2 in the space, no one has the fighters we have other than the UFC. So when I think about negative comments from other promoters, I’m not really impacted by that…I’m focused on what we’re doing and not any outside disservice,” Coker

Moving forward, Bellator’s future hangs in the balance. But the greater the competition, the better the standard in MMA moving forward. And that can only be a good thing.
