Ryan Garcia Slams Critics, Could Face The Winner Of Haney Vs. Prograis

In today’s boxing news, Ryan Garcia has hit back at his critics as he seeks to win his first world title.
In the biggest fight of Garcia’s career against Gervonta Davis, the boxer came up short as he was stopped in the seventh round with a body shot.
In the aftermath, Garcia was alleged to have quit after having got up immediately only once the referee had ended the count. Thereafter, Garcia moved up to junior welterweight under his new trainer Derrick James.
The pair are currently preparing for their first fight together against Oscar Duarte on December 2nd, 2023. The Mexican is on a 11-fight-win streak, making him a tough opponent for Garcia.
And given that Garcia will now be fighting at a weight that is more comfortable for him, King Ryan is ready to make a statement.
Garcia On His Critics
“Tired of the disrespect. I’m fed up and I’ve been at 50 percent for so long, it’s going to be different. I promise that to myself. I don’t care about anything but becoming a champion. My eyes used to care about social media and what that did for my career, now I don’t care, I’m ready to WIN,” Garcia stated
The primary criticism towards Garcia has been the claim that his social media following is the reason for his commercial success as opposed to his skills.
While there may be some credence to that, given that Garcia pocketed $30 million despite losing to Davis, the boxer has the potential to become a pay-per-view star regularly if the skills can match the following.
And given that James is known for working on boxing fundamentals, the expectation on Garcia to perform is high. And provided that he comes out victorious, then there are plans in place for Garcia to face the winner of Devin Haney vs. Regis Prograis.
The latter duo will face each other on December 9th, 2023, for Prograis’ WBC belt. And that would give Garcia the chance to grab his first world title by beating a high-caliber opponent.
And since Garcia has aligned himself with DAZN/Golden Boy Promotions, Eddie Hearn has talked up the chances of that fight happening.
Hearn On Garcia’s Plans
“We’ll make the Ryan Garcia fight. DAZN knows that the winner of this fight should fight Ryan Garcia. Ryan Garcia is with DAZN, he’s with Golden Boy. That fight is so easy to make right now, and I think whoever wins this fight, if it’s Devin Haney, if it’s Regis Prograis, it’s a February, it’s a March fight in Vegas in Los Angeles against Ryan Garcia, and it’s a massive, massive fight for boxing. People have been talking about Devin Haney – Ryan Garcia for a long time, and it’s a mega-fight, but if Regis goes in and knocks Devin Haney out, all of a sudden, he puts himself up there as a top pound-for-pound fighter himself,” Hearn stated
