Ryan Garcia Calls Out Regis Prograis

Ryan Garcia has called out Regis Prograis for a fight at 140 lbs.

Such a move is clearly a bold one, given that Garcia has just moved up to junior welterweight. And as he did so, he suffered a seventh-round TKO loss to Gervonta Davis in the biggest fight of his career.

In the aftermath, Garcia hit out at his team, namely Oscar De La Hoya, for not turning up to his post-fight presser as the fighter addressed the media alone.

Meanwhile, allegations that Garica had a mole in his camp who had reportedly leaked news about a body-shot injury also emerged, given that Davis had dropped him with it.

And on top of that, Garcia dropped his then trainer, Joe Goossen, to work under Derrick James.

With that being said, Garcia’s credentials for wanting Prograis, the current WBC champion, appear non-existent.

And yet, that did not stop him from putting Prograis on notice.

“Regis if you want to fight. Please let Eddie know. I want all that. I’m confident I can do damage at 140. So if you want to make something happen, please contact my team. I’m dead serious,” Garcia

Haney Vs. Prograis

Nevertheless, there are some obstacles in the way. Eddie Hearn recently confirmed that Devin Haney had been given an offer to fight Prograis.

That would appear the most likely fight given that Haney has had a successful relationship with DAZN and Matchroom.

In addition, Hearn confirmed that a fight with Haney would be the only way to avoid the WBC from enforcing Prograis’ mandatory, Sandor Martin

“I’ve made an offer to Devin Haley to fight Regis Prograis, and talks are ongoing with Bill Haney and Devin. It’s not been non-stop meetings with them, but they’ve had an offer,” Hearn

If that fight does not end up happening, then Garcia does have other options. The WBA junior-welterweight champion, Rolando Romero, has not hidden his desire to fight Garcia, given that it would be a lucrative bout.

Garcia’s next steps will be crucial, which is why he must bounce back with a win to banish the memories of the Davis loss.
