Ryan Garcia Belittles Crawford’s Resume – ‘Hasn’t Beat Anybody, Come See Me’
Ryan Garcia has slammed Terence Crawford, stating he is an overrated fighter.
Crawford is a two-weight undisputed champion following his wins at 140 and 147. His biggest win came against Errol Spence Jr. when he stopped him to become the first Undisputed Welterweight Champion of the four-belt era. Crawford has just become a four-weight world champion after beating Israil Madrimov to win the WBA Junior Middleweight Belt.
Bud is now targeting a fight against Canelo Alvarez at 168, as a win would undoubtedly put him up there as one of the best. Victories over Amir Khan, Kell Brook, and Shawn Porter, who are all former world champions, have shown that Bud has an impressive resume. And yet, Garcia has not been impressed with Bud’s wins.
Garcia On Crawford
“Terence Crawford really hasn’t beat anybody other than Errol Spence, who went through a car crash. Name 1 guy he beat other than Spence that’s well known! Crawford ain’t like that. He’s an overhyped bum. You’re wasting everybody’s money, and you’re not entertaining; you’re boring. Come see me in the ring if you think I’m talking [stuff],” Garcia said
There are some questions about Bud’s wins. Errol Spence had come back from two car crashes, one of which resulted in a detached retina. There were also suggestions that Spence struggled to make 147. But a rematch at 154 does not look like happening anytime soon. Meanwhile, Brook was coming off two broken eye sockets before he faced Crawford. Brook moved up two weight classes to fight GGG at 160. Despite boxing well, GGG landed numerous shots, which broke his eye socket.
Brook then returned to 147 to defend his IBF belt against Spence in his next fight, only for the Truth to break his eye socket. Khan had also been knocked out by Canelo Alvarez after he moved up to fight the Mexican. Khan had developed a reputation for having a glass chin, and Crawford also stopped him.
Despite this, Garcia’s resume is less impressive.
Garcia’s Resume
Gervonta Davis stopped Garcia in the biggest fight of his career. Although he blamed the 136-pound catchweight and ten-pound rehydration clause, Garcia still signed the contract. His win over Devin Haney was then turned into a no-contest. This was after Garcia failed two VADA tests for Ostarine, resulting in a year ban. While Garcia can box from April 2025, his brand has been damaged. And yet, Garcia still looks back at the Haney performance with pride.
“He looked like he was on his way to become the new Mayweather. I knew what I was in there for. [And] I knew what my purpose was. I had a belief in myself, and nobody is going to take that away from me. I’m a great boxer. I’ve only lost the Gervonta fight. So, they [Team Haney] were kind of underestimating me.
“I know I’m the most googled fighter in the last three months. There’s three of us. Me, Gervonta and Canelo that everybody is going to tune in. I think it’s more so me and Gervonta. I feel like I’m putting in more work to be the Face of Boxing. In this day and age on social media, you got to put in the work. You got to do interviews. You got to be there for the people,” Garcia stated
