Rogan Reacts To McGregor’s Legal Woes – ‘I Don’t Know If Conor’s Ever Going To Fight’
Joe Rogan has reacted to Conor McGregor being found liable after a civil sexual assault lawsuit.
Nikita Hand accused McGregor of sexually assaulting her in 2018 in a Dublin hotel room. McGregor denied doing anything of the sort. McGregor’s friend, James Lawrence, was also accused of this. Lawrence was found not guilty, leaving McGregor liable. The Irishman was ordered to pay Hand roughly $258,440. The Irishman has said he will appeal.
But his reputation has already suffered a lot of damage. The Hitman video game franchise no longer uses McGregor. Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey also no longer uses McGregor to market their drink. Airports in Cork and Dublin have stopped selling McGregor’s drinks. Irish politician Ruth Coppinger has also backed the idea of boycotting McGregor’s products.
McGregor’s Issues
“Obviously I feel people already are boycotting his products and there has been a massive commercial backlash for Conor McGregor. People shouldn’t support Conor McGregor, his products nor his premises. I am surprised though that retailers have pulled his products because normally something like this doesn’t affect a person. So the backlash Conor McGregor is getting is significant – retailers and sponsors are reacting and long may it continue,” Coppinger said
McGregor’s UFC career is also uncertain. The Irishman still has two fights left on his deal and is uncertain about his next opponent. He has not had a UFC fight since 2021, when he broke his leg in his defeat to Dustin Poirier. McGregor was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29, but the Irishman withdrew after breaking his toe. Chandler then moved on as he faced Charles Oliveira at UFC 309, again suffering a loss. That has reduced the demand to see the McGregor-Chandler fight.
Chandler has also been linked with another fight against Jorge Masvidal after suggestions that Gamebread could return to the UFC in April next year. McGregor recently announced that he would be fighting Dan Hooker on February 1 in Saudi Arabia. While Hooker did confirm that talks were ongoing, McGregor’s liability for this civil lawsuit means that the fight is unlikely. The Irishman is also unlikely to be in a positive state of mind since he has indicated that he will appeal, which is only likely to drag out the legal process.
Rogan Reacts
Dana White also has to decide whether he wants to risk causing damage to the UFC’s reputation by allowing McGregor to fight. McGregor’s case has divided the MMA fan base with some of McGregor’s strong supporters no longer being able to put their enthusiasm behind the Irishman. Rogan has now responded to the whole scenario, expressing that it will be difficult for McGregor to come back from this.
“I don’t know if Conor’s ever going to fight again. I don’t know the real details of that case. [And] I know his version of and her version of it and what played out in the court. But the reality is that guy’s partying, and he’s partying real hard and he talked about it [partying] in the court case,” Rogan said
