Puengluang Baanramba Looks to Get Back on Track after Lengthy Winning Streak Stopped
Samingdam Looksuan is surging. That’s a feeling that Puengluang Baanramba knows all too well. When the two meet at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok at ONE Friday Night Fights 76 this weekend, both men will seek to earn a bonus in their contract.
Before Puengluang took a surprising knockout loss to Jaosuayai Mor Krungthephtonburi in May, online boxing news shows that Puengluang had won six straight fights.
But Puengluang’s last fight ended poorly. Now, the striking specialist is trying to recenter himself and find his way back to the win column. It had to be difficult for Puengluang to lose the way he did and see his opponent rewarded with a $100,000 contract.
Puengluang has produced several strong results during his career so far. He has knocked out three of his opponents in ONE. Samingdam won’t be an easy opponent to succeed again.
He is 4-1 so far in ONE, with his only loss coming via split decision. This card features 12 Muay Thai fights, and there should be plenty of action to keep everyone on their toes.
Puenglang Hopes to Learn From Mistakes
Puenglang’s loss during his last fight was based on a decision that came from some overconfidence. Puenglang had backed his opponent up against the ropes in the first round. However, Jaosuayai wasn’t afraid to have his back against the ropes.
Puenglang thought he was going in for the kill. However, Jaosuayai fired back and ended up planting Puenglang. What Puenglang will have to do in order to pull this fight out is be prepared for an opponent who has a deep arsenal of attacks.
He seemed to have a problem picking up on elbows and other strikes other than the typical punches and kicks.
Teenager Ready for Battle
Thant Zin showed he was ready for battle when he debuted in ONE in February. The 19-year-old won a second-round knockout over Jaising Sitnayokpunsak. The latest boxing news online shows that fight fans are excited to see how he will follow up his solid debut effort.
Thant’s challenger will be Tai Sor Jor Piek Uthai. Tai is only four years older than Thant. While Tai has been involved in several exciting fights during his career, he has yet to produce a victory. Picking up a win over the teenage sensation would be an excellent way to turn his career around.
Thant will still be eager to show that his early success is no fluke. His skill more than makes up for his lack of experience.
Kaimookkhao Wankhongohm MBK Another Teen Eager to Play
Thant won’t be the only teenager looking to impress Friday night. Kaimookkhao Wankhongohm MBK, 18, is seeking his third straight victory. Kaimookkhao debuted with a knockout victory over Sitthichai Sor Dechapan in January and followed that up with another win in April.
Kaimookkhao’s early success means he will be rewarded with more interesting challenges going forward. His challenge this week will be to ruin Petkaolan Singha Mawynn’s debut.
Petkaolan has a strong pedigree. He trains with a competitive Singha Mawynn camp. Both men should bring the heat in this matchup.
Thway Lin Hetet Set for Debut
There’s nothing as exciting for fighters as when they debut in a promotion. Thway Lin Htet comes in with a strong reputation, but all of the hype won’t mean anything if he can’t deliver in the ring. The latest boxing news online shows that Thway will have an exciting challenge to start the year.
Ganchai Jitmuangnon hasn’t appeared to be overwhelmed with the level of competition at ONE Championship. The 24-year-old won his debut via knockout over Binladin Sanmorakot last December. He followed that up with a split-decision loss to Payakkirri Misakawan.
Rallying after a loss is difficult for any fighter. Losses can mess with fighters’ heads. There are few challenges in sports that are as difficult as those for a fighter who is trying to rally back from a devastating loss.
Vietnamese Fighter Looks to Stay Undefeated
Van Nam Pham proved himself to be a more than capable fighter on the regional scene. After five victories to open up his career, he felt he was ready to take the step up to ONE. Pham will have an opportunity to show everyone what he is made of when he takes on Estrada Donga-as.
Estrada also has little experience in the ring, and he is making his debut in ONE after a loss. Neither fighter has experience on the big stage, so some nerves could factor into this match. This is an excellent first opponent for Pham to protect his undefeated record.
Pham has started to show off his excellent skills on the ground. After opening his career with three straight wins on the scorecards, he picked up back-to-back wins via submission. Estrada has never been submitted.
Estrada has some power as he won one fight by knockout.
Card Will Open With Submission Grappling
Most ONE Friday Nights are Muay Thai heavy. That’s what the Thai fans like, and they get plenty of the action they are looking for. However, ONE likes to draw in all different types of combat sports fans.
This card will open up with a lightweight submission grappling battle between Magomet Matiev and Tomoshige Sera. With ONE creating more championship opportunities for grapplers, both fighters will want to make a strong first impression.
Here’s a look at the rest of the fights on the card not mentioned above:

- Muay Thai (118-pound catchweight), Pettasuea Seeopal vs. Petchakrit TN Diamond Home
