Pros React To Ulberg Beating Blachowicz – ‘Ran The Whole Fight’

Carlos Ulberg defeated Jan Blachowicz via a decision at UFC London in their light heavyweight clash, as MMA insiders gave their reaction.
The two fighters entered the contest with contrasting fortunes. Blachowicz did not have a fight since losing to Alex Pereira via a split decision in 2023 at UFC 291. He had been out of action with a shoulder injury as he aimed to get back to winning ways. Meanwhile, Ulberg had racked up seven consecutive wins, having not lost since 2021.
Ulberg started the fight well, landing with some leg kicks. Blachowicz was trying to overpower his man, as he hit back with leg kicks of his own. The pair were not taking too many risks, trying to feel each other out. Ulberg finished the round as the stronger man, landing with his jab. Blachowicz came forward in the second round with more leg kick attacks.
Post-Fight Comments
That set up a scoring left-hand before they traded leg kicks. Blachowicz land another combination before Ulberg clinched and landed a knee to the body. Blachowicz had his own say with a scoring jab before the end of the second. The fight was in the balance heading into the final round. However, it was Ulberg who took the decision, landing decisive leg kicks to win on the scorecards: 29-28, 29-28, 29-28. Here is how MMA insiders reacted to the decision.
“If you look at the current champion [Magomed Ankalaev] and the former champion [Alex Pereira], their last fight with Jan Blachowicz was a very close fight, as well. I beat him with a unanimous decision, so it’s a very good feat for me. We knew he was gonna come out tough and exactly how he came out. He’s very good at lulling you to sleep.
“He’s very good at kind of putting this pressure [on] but not really doing anything. He kind of just waits on you to make the move. Our game plan was to stick and move and hopefully get him to walk into something. He was definitely smarter than that. He’s a veteran in the game and a little older now, so he knows not to walk into the younger power,” Ulberg said
