Police Visit Ryan Garcia To Conduct A Welfare Check

Ryan Garcia has caused mass concern after the police reportedly visited him at his suite at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.

According to TMZ, the authorities visited him after the boxer had his alcohol supply stopped. It is claimed Garcia was drinking when the hotel and the police decided to conduct a welfare check. This was at the request of a member of Garcia’s family. Garcia could later be seen looking a little rough as he walked outside with his brother, Sean Garcia. This is a worrying sign for the boxer. He faces a fight to prove his innocence following two failed VADA tests for Ostarine.

Garcia failed for the banned substance following his win over Devin Haney. Ostarine helps boxers improve stamina, increase muscle and cut weight. Garcia’s defense has come under scrutiny. His B sample also tested positive. Garcia has since then conducted a hair follicle test, which came back negative, to suggest there was no long-term PED usage. He also submitted two supplements which tested positive for Ostarine to argue contamination.

Garcia’s Problems

However, they were unsealed supplements. This cannot conclusively show there was contamination. Garcia has not provided sealed supplements from the same lot number and manufacturer, which also had Ostarine. Haney’s team are demanding that the New York State Athletic Commission disqualify Garcia and give Haney the win. The last high-profile boxer who tested for Ostarine was Amir Khan.

Khan is a former two-time world champion who received a backdated two-year ban. The amount in his system was smaller than what Garcia had. Khan also proved it was unintentional, but that did not stop him from getting a big ban. The WBC has gotten involved and stated they would conduct further analysis over Ostarine contamination. However, since Garcia was not fighting for the belt as he missed weight, there is a suggestion that Ryan is getting favorable treatment due to his high profile.

WBC Responds

“As it has been widely publicized around the world, the contents of Ryan Garcia’s “A” and “B” sample containers collected on April 19 and April 20, 2024, yielded adverse analytical findings for Ostarine. Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator [“SARM”]. Ostarine and all SARMs are banned substances at all times under the WBC Clean Boxing Program.

“Upon receiving the notification of the Adverse Findings, the WBC immediately started its Results Management Process under the governing WBC CBP’s Testing and Results Management Guidelines. Under that process, the WBC notified Mr. Garcia of the adverse findings and provided him with information about his right to witness the opening of the “B” sample container and to have the contents of the “B” sample container tested. The “B” sample containers’ contents also yielded adverse analytical findings for Ostarine.

“In addition, the WBC’s Result Management Unit’s notification to Mr. Garcia requested available information and documents to assist the Unit’s determination of the circumstances leading or reasonably related to the adverse findings. The WBC Results Management Unit anticipates receiving the requested information toward the end of June. In the meantime, the WBC has continued to investigate the pharmacological characteristics of Ostarine, the details of the tests’ results that led to the adverse findings, and any other explanation that might relate to the adverse findings. The WBC will continue to provide updates on the process it is undertaking as additional information becomes available,” WBC statement

However, it would be irrelevant if Garcia cannot keep himself together outside the ring as he deals with this legal issue.
