Pereira Challenges Hill To Spar After Verbal Clash

Alex Pereira shook Jamahal Hill after the pair traded verbal shots in a face-to-face altercation, with the Brazilian demanding that they spar to settle their feud.
Pereira and Hill have a huge history, having faced each other at UFC 300. Alex was defending his UFC Light Heavyweight Title against the former champion. Pereira had big pressure coming into the fight, given that he had broken his toe two weeks before, something that came out after the bout was over.
However, Alex produced the goods by stopping his man in the first round after landing a huge left hand, followed by numerous strikes while on the ground. But Hill’s reaction towards the defeat has not gone down well with the MMA fanbase. He felt that the referee’s intervention prior to the stoppage disrupted his flow. Hill landed a shot on Pereira, which was deemed a little low. The pair ultimately touched gloves before the referee walked away.
“So that’s not advancing during a timeout? Herb stepped behind me and said continue blocking my left side! This all happened in 4 seconds so to say that didn’t play a factor is retarded!! I accept I should’ve been more on point and not shown sportsmanship when I wasn’t given any, it was dumb on my part, but you learn,” Hill said
Pereira Vs. Hill
Alex landed the crushing blow shortly after to send his man to the canvas. Hill has been seeking revenge, setting the narrative for a rematch. The clip shows them nearly coming to blows before they are separated at a training center. But shortly before that happened, Alex threw the gloves towards Hill, suggesting they should spar.
Nevertheless, the chances of the fight happening are very unlikely. Pereira is coming off a knockout win over Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. Alex revealed that he had injured his hand. The Brazilian also confirmed that he would take some time out before deciding his next move. Pereira is also under increasing pressure to take on Magomed Ankalaev, the leading contender in the light heavyweight division. There have been accusations from both sides that they are ducking each other.
Ankalaev even said Dana White told him the Pereira fight was next for him. Alex has also been linked with a fight against the UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. Both those fights are significantly bigger than running things back with Hill, whom he has already stopped. Hill also takes on Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 on January 18. Pereira has already stopped Jiri twice, meaning that Hill must overcome him to secure a rematch with Pereira. But that is no easy feat since both are coming off a defeat with plenty to prove. But if Hill comes out with a win, it will increase his claim for that rematch.
