Paddy Pimblett Outlines His Plans To Fight YouTube Boxers
Paddy Pimblett will fight out his UFC contract when he faces Bobby Green at UFC 304.
Pimblett is 5-0, but he faces his first ranked opponent. He will fight on a mega card in Manchester, England, headlined by Tom Aspinall vs. Curtis Blaydes on July 27. Despite being the biggest fight of his career, he has hinted at a move into boxing. Pimblett aims to beat Green, allowing him to face better opposition with an eye on Renato Moicano. His last fight was a win over Tony Ferguson, who has lost seven in a row. Given that this is the last fight of his UFC contract, Pimblett wants to explore other opportunities.
Pimblett’s Future
“It goes without saying: I wouldn’t want to go to a different organization. UFC is the cream of the crop. It’s the main place. When you say to people, ‘I do MMA.’ Most of them go, ‘What’s that?’ You say, ‘UFC.’ People don’t even know what MMA is. They know what UFC is. You never know, though. Some of these stupid YouTubers who are boxing could end up offering me millions to end up fighting of them. So we’ll see what happens.
“Obviously, if I fight again this year, then I’m going to want to fight someone else and get in the rankings, and I’m going to want to fight someone higher up in the rankings,” Pimblett said. “Me and Moicano have had a little back-and-forth. I’d love to fight Moicano. I think it would be absolutely hilarious to do a season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ with him. I think that would be one of the best seasons they’ve ever done. We’ll see what happens. This is the last fight on my contract, so we’ll be getting back to the renegotiation table after this. So we’ll see what happens,” Pamblett said
UFC Pay
Alex Pereira’s recent comments have highlighted the issue of UFC fighter pay. He is a two-weight world champion, making him one of the biggest names in the sport. He is coming off impressive wins, knocking out Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 and Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303. His stock has risen even further, suggesting he could fight UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. The fight undoubtedly generated huge numbers, making it one of the biggest UFC fights in recent memory. His win over Prochazka at UFC 303 earned Pereira a $303,000 bonus. Based on Pereria’s following comments, his earnings have increased exponentially.
“Then he said, “I gave you bonus of the fight” Then I said to him, “$303,000?” Then he laughed and said, “No, $50,000” and I was like, “At the interview they asked you. I don’t understand english and I understood it was $303,000. Then he laughed again and said, “Okay fine, $303,000 for you” then I thanked him. It was good money, I worked 14 years in the tire shop. The money I earned in 14 years, 0.06 of the money I won in UFC 303 covered the 14 years I worked in the tire shop,” Pereira stated
