Oliveira Vs. Chandler Predictions – ‘I Think He Can Out-Grapple Him’
Charles Oliveira rematches Michael Chandler this weekend at UFC 309 as MMA fighters gave their predictions.
Oliveira defeated Chandler at UFC 262 in 2021 to retain his UFC Lightweight Title. He knocked him out in the second round. However, Oliveira has since then lost his title to Islam Makhachev, who is the current lightweight champion. Olivera suffered a split-decision defeat against Arman Tsarukyan in his last fight at UFC 300. But a win over Chandler takes him closer to a title shot, knowing he would have to face Islam again. Alternatively, a win potentially puts him in the conversation for a fight with Conor McGregor. That, at the very least, would earn Oliveira a big payday.
Chandler has his first fight since 2021, when he suffered a loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281. Chandler has only had two victories in his five UFC fights, but at 38, he is at the latter end of his career. He spent a significant amount of time waiting for the Conor McGregor fight. However, McGregor pulled out of their scheduled UFC 303 fight on June 29 with a broken toe. Chandler chose to pursue the Oliveira rematch instead of waiting for McGregor.
