Oleksandr Usyk Should Leave No Doubt in Rematch With Tyson Fury

When Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury met earlier this year to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over 20 years, it seemed clear who won the fight. But when the result reached online boxing news, at least one person had a differing opinion on the fight. One of the judges gave Fury a decision despite Usyk scoring the only knockdown of the bout.
While two judges made the right decision, there was an appetite for a rematch. Fury has flirted with retirement several times but was motivated to return after suffering the first loss in his career. Usyk is a fighter’s fighter.
Usyk thought he might have a long career as a cruiserweight. However, when Usyk came up a weight division, he proved that his speed and overall boxing skill were brutal for heavyweight boxers to keep up with. If Fury chooses to try to outbox Usyk again, he could be in for another disappointing performance.
Fury Packs on the Pounds

Fury is a gigantic man. The 6-foot-9 frame that Fury sports is enough to leer over many of his opponents, even in the heavyweight division. During the first fight between the two men, Fury came in at 262 pounds, 38.5 points heavier than Usyk.
The Englishman has said several times on the record that he plans to come in heavier for this fight. It makes sense. When Fury knocked out Deontay Wilder twice during their trilogy of fights, he used his enormous size to lean on and wear out his opponent.
He would like to do the same thing to Usyk. The latest trending boxing news shows that Fury knows that grabbing hold of Usyk won’t be easy.
Fury has flirted with retirement over the past few years. As a result, he didn’t test himself like he should have going into the first fight. It will be interesting to see if he has the fire come back for this one.
Serious Man Shows Lighter Side

Usyk has come to several media events for this fight dressed up like Agent 47 from the video game “Hitman.” Usyk has shown several times that he has a lighter side. After he beat Daniel Dubois by knockout, he was heard telling Dubois that he would be champion.
But make no mistake, anyone looking at boxing updates tonight wouldn’t overlook how tough of a fighter Usyk is. Usyk is a disciplined fighter who won’t be intimidated by fighting a bigger opponent. However, Usyk will need to be careful to make sure he puts a beating on Fury.
The fact that one judge gave Fury the first fight means that Usyk shouldn’t feel safe about any potential result if the fight goes the distance. Fury is a great fighter and former champion, but Usyk is a more determined, motivated champion.
Usyk would like to avoid needing a trilogy to try and determine who the better fighter is. Usyk already proved during the first fight that he isn’t intimidated by Fury’s size. It’s hard to see him backing down in this one, either.
Bets to consider: Usyk ML, Under 10.5 rounds, Fight not to go the distance
Itauma Ready for Breakthrough
Moses Itauma is a significant favorite in a heavyweight fight on the undercard against Demsey McKean. While Itauma has made waves that have been recognized in the boxing community, many casual fans may be overjoyed to be introduced to Itauma on this card. Itauma has been stacking up wins on the regional scene. He is 10-0 in his career and has won eight fights by stoppage. He claimed his first belt on the minor circuit when he knocked out Ilja Mezencev in May 2024. Itauma tends to make quick work of his opponents.
Itauma hasn’t gone past the second round in his previous six fights. He will get a test of where he’s at against Demsey McKean. McKean is a former regional champion coming off his first loss last August.
Expect a wild fight that shouldn’t come close to going the distance.
Bets to consider: Under 4.5 rounds, Itauma by KO/TKO/DQ
Andrii Novytskyi Looks for Recognition
Ukrainian heavyweight Andrii Novytskyi is another heavy favorite on the card. He is 13-0 and has racked up 10 knockouts in his career. He’s a big favorite to take down Edgar Ramirez.
Ramirez, a Mexican heavyweight, will be in for a long night. He is 10-1 in his career with four knockouts. Ramirez isn’t the most powerful heavyweight and will need to try to avoid running into the power of Novytskyi.
It will be a short night for Ramirez.
Bets to consider: Novytskyi by KO/TKO/DQ
Serhii Bohachuk Adjusts to a New Opponent
Serhii Bohachuk was supposed to have another opponent this weekend. But an injury forced Ishmael Davis to step in and fight Bohachuk. Davis has a 13-1 record and has six wins by knockout.
However, this is a big step up in competition for Davis. Bohachuk has twice as many professional fights and has compiled a 24-2 record. During his career, he has been an excellent finisher in throwing power punches.
Bohachuk has 23 wins by knockout. He would like to keep his place on the card by putting away another opponent.
Bets to consider: Bohachuk by KO/TKO/DQ
Here’s a look at the rest of the fights on the card:
Featherweight, Isaac Lowe (+150) vs. Lee McGregor (-190)
Light heavyweight, Daniel Lapin (-1000) vs. Dylan Colin (+600)
Heavyweight, Johnny Fisher (-2500) vs. David Allen (+950)
