Offer Made For Lauren Price Vs. Mikaela Mayer Undisputed Fight

Ben Shalom has confirmed that he is working to finalize an undisputed welterweight title fight between Lauren Price and Mikaela Mayer.
This bout is being targeted for 2026 after initial plans to hold it this year fell apart primarily due to financial disagreements. Price is the WBC, WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine Welterweight Champion. She unified the division by beating Natasha Jonas in March to extend her undefeated record to 9-0.
Meanwhile, Mayer holds the WBO Welterweight Title. However, Mayer’s last fight was a unanimous decision win over Mary Spencer in October to become the WBA, WBC, and WBO Junior Middleweight Champion, thus making her a three-weight world champion. Mayer now has to decide if she wants to pursue undisputed 154 or move back down to welterweight to do the same. Mayer has previously stated that she would like to move back down to 147 for undisputed, meaning the offer has to be right.
“We’ve made an offer for Mayer to come and fight over here at the Royal Albert Hall. So far, we haven’t had an accepted offer, but that has been a fight that we’ve been trying to make and are trying to make,” Shalom said
The Approach
Mayer’s goal will be to control the distance with her jab and maintain a high punch output to overwhelm Price. She will look to immediately follow the jab with power shots, particularly her right hand or left hook. If Price attempts to step inside, Mayer will immediately follow the jab with a 1-2 or a short hook to punish her. While her knockout ratio is low (5 KOs in 22 wins), her volume can break opponents down over ten rounds. Mayer has recent experience against southpaws, including a close loss to Natasha Jonas. Her team will have focused on circling away from Price’s power hand (the straight left) while creating angles to land her own right hand over the jab.
Price’s greatest weapon is her footwork and ring IQ. Her tactical objective will be to move in-and-out and lateral shifts to deny Mayer a stationary target. This allows her to negate Mayer’s reach advantage by quickly getting inside the jab. Price will feint with her head or lead foot, tricking Mayer into throwing the jab. Once Mayer commits, Price will take a small step in, land a sharp counter (like the right hook that troubled Jonas). Price will prioritize accuracy, aiming for clean, single power shots to make Mayer think twice.
