Nurmagomedov Slams PED Claims, McGregor’s USADA Issue

In some MMA news, Khabib Nurmagomedov has hit back at Bobby Green’s comments about Russian fighter’s allegedly using PEDS.

Green, for his part, had controversially accused Khabib and Islam Makhachev of using performance enhancing drugs. And as part of that process, he looked back at his own loss to Makhachev in 2022.

Thereafter, Green was adamant that Russian fighters were using substances and getting around USADA by visiting places that the organization was not allowed to enter.

That naturally ruffled a few feathers given that Khabib was unbeaten in the sport. And as a result, Green had a few choice words to say about the matter.

Green On Khabib

“The Russian be cheating right now. No disrespect to none of the Russian people if you my fans, I f—k with you but I be seeing some funny s—t that I’m like, ‘Oh.’ Because I know people all around and in different sections and stuff. For instance, Khabib [Nurmagomedov] and Islam and them, they go to a mosque. They train in some place where you can’t be — USADA can’t go, you can’t come in here. For months they can do whatever they wanna do,” Green stated

Those comments did not sit well with Khabib, who accused Green of not giving fighters their credit. After all, Khabib had never failed a USADA test despite the claims that were being directed against him. In response to those claims, this is what Nurmagomedov had to say.

Khabib Responds

“There’s nothing wrong with giving power to a champion, whether you like it or not. But it is not given to everyone, for this you need brains and preferably not from straw. @islam_makhachev You can’t give them a break. And tell him that I have about 300 amateur fights in different sports, Islam has been playing amateur [kick] sports also since nine years old and has vast experience behind him. I am not talking about experience in professionals anymore,” Khabib

Nevertheless, entering into USADA is vital if the sport wants to retain competition at the highest level. As of now, USADA requires fighters to submit two negative samples across a six-month period in order to compete.

As of now, Conor McGregor is at the centre of this after having not enrolled in USADA with many questioning his mindset.

“It sounds to me like he’s off taking steroids right now. He hasn’t been drug tested by USADA in quite some time. I’m looking for fair competition. If he’s on steroids, then give me steroids and let’s go, I’m down with that. My health is my biggest factor. I have never taken a performance-enhancing drug, and I do not want to fight people that are taking performance-enhancing drugs,”Justin Gaethje said

Getting a clean sport at the disposal for its fans is the most important thing to remember moving forward. And the more that fighters get tested, then the more that the sport can have people competing at an even playing field.
