Ngannou Vows To Slap Jake Paul; Paul Hits Back -' Jon Jones Is Better'

Jake Paul slammed Francis Ngannou following the latter’s reaction towards his victory against Mike Tyson

Paul boxed Tyson on Netflix’s first-ever broadcast of a boxing bout, and he won a unanimous decision. However, the fight received a lot of criticism after it became very clear early on that Tyson was not the same fighter. The 58-year-old wore a compression sleeve on his knee to help him deal with an injury. Tyson had also initially pulled out from the July 20 date due to an inflamed ulcer, after which he revealed that he felt he could have died.

Tyson essentially fought on the defensive for most of the fight, while Jake admitted that he took it a bit easy on Tyson as a knockout never came. The fight earned Paul a reported $40 million, while Tyson picked up $20 million. But given what fans had seen in the boxing ring, it is hard to justify them receiving such big purses. Tim Bradley has since then come out and labelled Paul a ‘con artist.’ Meanwhile, Ngannou has now had his say. He reacted to the victory and said he would slap Paul the next time he saw him.

Ngannou On Paul

The reaction came as a surprise, especially since Ngannou and Paul appear to be on good terms. They both fight under the PFL, having recently signed a deal with the organization. Ngannou made his PFL debut against Renan Ferreira on October 19; Paul talked up Ngannou, labelling him as the best heavyweight in MMA over Jon Jones.

Jones was accused of avoiding a fight with Ngannou before the latter departed from the UFC. During the presser for the build-up, Paul was on hand to stand between Ngannou as he faced off against Ferreira. Ngannou delivered in the fight, stopping Ferreira in the first round to become the PFL Heavyweight Champion. Ngannou knows Tyson personally, having used him as a trainer for when he boxed against Tyson Fury. Francis was making his boxing debut as he impressed in a split decision loss. He dropped Fury in the third round. While he came out second best, some in the boxing community felt the decision had robbed him.

Paul Reacts

Jake has now reacted to Ngannou’s comments by having a dig. He said Jones could arguably be the better heavyweight. Jones is coming off a third-round stoppage win against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. That was his first heavyweight title defence since he acquired the belt against Cyril Gane at UFC 285. Miocic retired after the win, while Jones hinted he could have one more fight. That has gotten fans wondering whether they will see the Tom Aspinall fight. That fight is seen as the biggest fight in MMA. A win over Aspinall would take Jones’ legacy to another level. This is what Paul had to say in response.
