Ngannou Tells Jake Paul – ‘Tyson Will Beat You Up’

Francis Ngannou has told Jake Paul that Mike Tyson will beat you.
Ngannou knows Tyson well, using him as his trainer when he boxed Tyson Fury. Ngannou defied expectations as he dropped Fury on his boxing debut. While he lost a split decision, he was arguably deprived of a shock win. Tyson will box Paul on November 15, the first time a fight will air on Netflix. The fight was scheduled for July 20. However, Tyson pulled out due to an inflamed ulcer. There were calls for the fight to be called off, but it will go ahead, leaving the pressure on Paul to perform.
The Problem Child is 27, while Tyson is 58, making it vital that Paul comes out with a win. Paul has ambitions of becoming a world champion and securing a fight with Canelo Alvarez. The failure to beat a retired fighter who is past his prime will harm his chances of that.
Ngannou Reacts
Tyson’s training clips show he can cause some damage, but it remains to be seen if he can do this in a boxing ring again. His last pro fight was in 2005, when he lost to Kevin McBride. Meanwhile, his 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. showed that he was not the same boxer as Father Time catches up with everyone. And yet, Ngannou warned Paul about the danger.
“Yeah, I do [think he’ll beat your ass]. Listen, I have seen Tyson move around just to show me stuff. He was like, ‘This footwork moves like this,’ and I was like hold on, like, calm down (laughs). He’s still got it. Either way, I think Mike Tyson will beat you up. We’re talking about Mike, bro. Mike is something else,” Ngannou said
Paul has also targeted a fight with UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira. Paul called him out after stopping Mike Perry in his last fight. He FaceTimed Pereira, although Dana White has dismissed that fight from happening. Pereira is one of the UFC’s best fighters, having become a two-weight world champion.
Titles at middleweight and light heavyweight have made him one of the best P4P fighters in the world. He has been linked with a move back down to middleweight as he set his sights on beating the current champion, Dricus Du Plessis.
Ngannou On Pereira
Du Plessis beat Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 by securing a fourth-round submission. Izzy did stop Pereira at UFC 287 in their middleweight title clash, the last time the Brazilian was at middleweight, giving Alex an incentive to win the belt back.
There are also links with a move up to heavyweight. White has dismissed Pereira fighting Jon Jones, but there could be a scenario where he faces Tom Aspinall. Given Alex’s desire to face the best, Ngannou had nothing but praise for him.
“He’s tough, he has some tough hands. I think you’re going to get some tough nights [against him in the future]. This guy is big, solid and he’s mean. He walks straight to you like, ‘I’m gonna eat this guy,” Ngannou stated
