Warren Wants To Work With Ngannou Moving Forward – ‘He Is Solid'
In the latest boxing news, Frank Warren has revealed that he aims to work with Francis Ngannou moving forward following the latter’s impressive performance against Tyson Fury.
The former UFC heavyweight champion was making his boxing debut in a bout where he impressed the boxing community. Although the decision may have gone against him, in that Fury got the split decision win, Ngannou’s stock rose after the fight.
The latter managed to drop Fury to the canvas in the third round, as well as going the distance with the WBC heavyweight champion of the world. Thereafter, Ngannou has been linked with fights against Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.
Both Eddie Hearn and Malik Scott have spoken about their fighters facing Ngannou, respectively. And now Warren appears to have joined them in wanting the same.
Warren On Ngannou
"He has come out of this a huge star, a hero. He is now in a position to be in massive fights and I will have a meeting with him and his people about working together. The rematch could end up being as big as the Usyk fight. I will offer him a top-level fight. He is solid, an athlete. He’ll get into the top 10 after that and based on that performance, I would give him a shot against anyone in the top 10 and I think he’d beat at least five of them right now. He’d beat Manuel Charr all day long; him and Joe Joyce would be a good fight," Warren
Ngannou’s Ranking
Much in the same way, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman heaped praise on the MMA fighter. So much so that Sulaiman confirmed that Ngannou would arrive into the top ten of the WBC rankings as a result.
That would serve as a huge boost to Ngannou’s boxing aspirations, as he did not rule out a return to the ring at a later date. And with that in mind, fights for a world title could soon open up.
"What I personally witnessed last night is a solid boxer, who deserves to be ranked by the WBC. And I will make such recommendations to the ratings committee," Sulaiman stated
And those comments were backed up by Ngannou’s trainer, Dewey Cooper.
"Mauricio Sulaiman the president of WBC said he is going to rank him in the top ten because he is better than most of the heavyweights in the top ten. He said that in the ring, so absolutely you’ll see him again," Cooper
Ultimately, Ngannou has the right to choose fights on his own terms moving forward. And with a new fanbase under his disposal, the Cameroonian will have to ensure that the balance between boxing and MMA is retained.
After all, Ngannou is still expected to making his PFL debut in 2024. But if the fighter can continue to put in performances like he did against Fury, then who knows where the boxing career could go.
Time will tell how it all plays out in the future moving forward. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
