UFC White House results: Biggest winners, losers from Topuria vs. Gaethje

Justin Gaethje battered Ilia Topuria across four grueling rounds to unify the UFC lightweight titles at Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn on June 14, finally capturing undisputed gold at age 37 in one of the sport's biggest upsets.

Gaethje survived a second-round crisis when Topuria landed vicious body shots that left him writhing on the canvas, per MMA Mania. Instead of finishing on the feet, Topuria followed to the mat hunting submissions, allowing Gaethje to recover. The 37-year-old veteran returned fire in the second half, feeding Topuria a steady stream of jabs and uppercuts in the clinch before the former two-division champion quit on his stool before the fifth frame. "He made Topuria work extremely hard for every exchange," wrote Andrew Richardson in MMA Mania's technical breakdown. Topuria was transported to a local hospital after the stoppage with compromised vision and facial damage.

Gane denies Pereira's triple-champ bid with crushing knockout

Ciryl Gane spoiled Alex Pereira's shot at UFC history in the co-main event, stopping the Brazilian with a second-round technical knockout to claim the interim heavyweight title. Pereira was gunning to become the first fighter ever to win three separate division titles under the UFC banner. Gane threaded the needle by staying patient on the outside, landing stiff jabs and reactive takedown attempts that made Pereira hesitate despite his forward pressure. A final jab froze Pereira in his tracks, and Gane's follow-up barrage sealed the finish. The victory sets up a unification clash with divisional king Tom Aspinall later this year.

Josh Hokit continued his rapid ascent by stopping Derrick Lewis in round two, moving to 10-0 as a professional and 4-0 inside the Octagon. That marks back-to-back wins over top-10 opponents for the heavyweight, likely placing him inside the division's top three. Sean O'Malley bounced back with a second-round knockout of Aiemann Zahabi, landing a counter left hand followed by a 1-2 down the pipe. O'Malley is now 2-0 since his pair of losses to Merab Dvalishvili and positioned for a potential rematch with Petr Yan if "No Mercy" defeats the Georgian champion in their upcoming trilogy bout.

Michael Chandler absorbed his fourth straight defeat and third by stoppage, getting knocked out in the first round by Mauricio Ruffy. Chandler drops to 2-6 under the UFC banner at age 40, raising retirement questions after a brutal three-year skid. Topuria, meanwhile, will need to win a fight or two before working his way back to another lightweight title shot.
