Tsarukyan Fires Back At Adesanya's Lifestyle Criticism

Arman Tsarukyan has a simple response to Israel Adesanya's criticism — and it came with a sting attached.

The Armenian lightweight has been a regular presence on streaming platforms since his last UFC appearance at UFC Qatar in November, where he submitted Dan Hooker in the main event. He has competed six times in Real American Freestyle wrestling, appeared frequently on streams hosted by Nina Drama and NEON. Adesanya noticed, and did not approve.

"He knows how to train. He knows what to do. But to be at the top, top, top, top of this game, you can't be hanging out with Sneako and Neon on the regular. You gotta be in the gym. I know this, you know this. You've gotta be at least as active as possible," Adesanya

The advice carries the weight of experience. Adesanya spent years at the pinnacle of the middleweight division, reigning as champion for the majority of his UFC career and building a legacy that places him among the most decorated fighters the sport has produced. The suggestion that Tsarukyan's lifestyle choices are incompatible with reaching that level is not without basis. Tsarukyan's counter landed on a specific target.

"I just jumped in their stream, but brother, when I have a fight I am locked in, when I don't have a fight I chill and enjoy my life," he said during a live stream with Nina Drama. It's better than drinking, Adesanya. It's better to stream than drink,” Arman

Adesanya has been public about his relationship with alcohol during difficult periods of his career, and Tsarukyan choosing that detail as his line of response rather than the professional critique itself suggests he was less interested in defending his work ethic than in landing something personal.

Adesanya is currently on a four-fight losing streak, most recently falling to Joe Pyfer earlier this year, and has faced persistent calls to retire that he has publicly declined. Lecturing a ranked contender about discipline and dedication from that position invites exactly the kind of response Tsarukyan provided.

For now, he has the last word. And Adesanya is still figuring out what comes next.
