Topuria Warns Tsarukyan: "You've Never Faced Anyone Like Me"

Ilia Topuria has turned up the heat on Arman Tsarukyan ahead of UFC Freedom 250, delivering a pointed warning to the man sitting on standby as the event's backup fighter and predicting a first-round knockout if and when they eventually share the Octagon.

"You never ever, forget about it, never ever in your entire life you've faced someone like me," Topuria said. "I'm going to embarrass you in front of everyone. I told him, I'm gonna break his jaw in the first round. He's gonna try and take me down since the beginning of the fight, and when he's gonna realize that, bro, it's not that easy to take this leg and take me down."

Tsarukyan previously withdrew from a scheduled lightweight title fight with Islam Makhachev through injury, a development that damaged his standing with the UFC. His conduct has drawn further scrutiny, most recently at UFC Qatar last November when he headbutted Dan Hooker — an incident that angered the organisation and briefly threatened to derail his standing as a contender entirely.

Despite all of that, his ranking and his performances have kept him in the conversation, and his placement as the official backup for Freedom 250 represents a degree of rehabilitation with the promotion.

Topuria's specific focus on the takedown threat is deliberate. Tsarukyan's wrestling and grappling have long been considered his most dangerous weapons against a striker of Topuria's calibre, and the champion is addressing that directly — not by acknowledging the danger but by dismissing it entirely. The confidence is consistent with how Topuria has approached every opponent in his career.

The rivalry between the two has been building through social media exchanges and press conference confrontations for months, and the bad blood accumulated during that period is real. Gaethje remains the immediate priority on June 14. But Topuria's language this week makes clear that the Tsarukyan fight, when it eventually arrives, will not need any additional promotional build-up.
