Terence Crawford mocks Conor McGregor UFC 329 injury
Terence Crawford weighed in on Conor McGregor's disastrous UFC 329 return, claiming the Irishman's 69-second injury loss was cosmic payback.
McGregor appeared to blow out his right knee in the opening moments of his welterweight bout against Max Holloway, collapsing repeatedly before the referee waved off the fight. UFC CEO Dana White told reporters afterward he suspected an ACL tear, a grim echo of the leg injury that ended McGregor's previous Octagon appearance over five years ago. As Sherdog first reported, Crawford took to X hours later with a stark message: "It's crazy when they talk shit to me God punish them."
Crawford and McGregor's crossover beef
The unbeaten boxer has traded barbs with McGregor for years over a proposed two-fight crossover series that never materialized. McGregor claimed he offered Crawford a $200 million payday for bouts in both MMA and boxing, an assertion Crawford has flatly denied. Per Sherdog, Crawford has made a habit of trolling MMA stars who cross him. After Ilia Topuria lost to Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250, Crawford posted, "This the guy that said he would knock me out and whoop me and Shakur at the same time?" Topuria had previously boasted he could beat Crawford in a boxing match.
Holloway, meanwhile, was subdued in victory. "All jokes aside, as just not a fighter, as a human, I really hope he's all good, man," he said in his post-fight interview, according to Sherdog. Holloway briefly floated a trilogy with McGregor before pivoting to welterweight champion Islam Makhachev as his next target, saying a win over Makhachev would make him the lightweight champion in spirit.
McGregor has not addressed Crawford's latest jab. No timetable has been announced for his recovery or potential return.
