Skye Nicolson vs Carla Camila Campos Gonzales: Preview & Betting Tips

After suffering her first professional defeat and losing her WBC Featherweight title to Tiara Brown, Australian standout Skye Nicolson is back in action this time at super-bantamweight as the talented southpaw will face Carla Camila Campos Gonzales.
Nicolson (12-1, 1 KO) had been steadily climbing the ranks, her slick movement and technical prowess winning over fans and pundits alike. But a March defeat to the rugged Tiara Brown halted that momentum, exposing some vulnerabilities when pressured and outmuscled at featherweight. In response, Nicolson has decided to drop to super-bantamweight, possibly a more natural weight for her frame.
On paper, Gonzalez (9-3, 8 KO’s) looks dangerous. She has a high knockout ratio and a three-fight win streak, all coming via stoppage. But a closer look at her record tells a different story. Her last three opponents had never won a single pro fight (0-5 combined). That casts serious doubt on the quality of opposition she’s been tested against.

Skye Nicolson vs Carla Camila Campos Gonzales: Analysis

A world title shot at super-bantamweight is the long-term goal here for Nicolson, and this fight is designed to regain confidence and sharpen her skills under less duress.
Nicolson has often been criticised for her lack of knockout power, with only one stoppage in ten pro fights. However, this might be a chance for her to make a statement. She’s facing a significantly smaller and far less skilled opponent, and she’ll want to show that her move down to 122-pounds comes with added freshness.
While Gonzales carries power, there’s no proof she can deliver it against a fighter of Nicolson’s calibre.
Nicolson vs Gonzales: Prediction & Betting Tips
There’s no shame in a comeback fight being used for confidence-building, but this may be a little too easy of a return for someone of Nicolson’s pedigree. Still, it gives her a chance to make a statement and show that she’s ready to hunt for gold in a second division.
We should expect the Australian to completely dominate every second of this fight and believe it or not, I actually think the former world champion can force the second stoppage of her professional career here. I know it sounds crazy considering her track record, but the Bolivian fighter should not be in the same ring as someone as technically and athletically skilled as Nicolson.
This might make some people laugh, but I’m taking Skye Nicolson to win via KO/TKO at odds of 2.10 (Sky Bet).
