Ryan Garcia Wants Tank Davis Rematch
Ryan Garcia used the three-year anniversary of his first professional loss to publicly challenge Gervonta Davis to a rematch.
The first fight ended in a loss for Ryan after it ended via a seventh-round liver shot from Davis. Garcia previously said the 136-pound catchweight and the 10-pound rehydration limit essentially stripped him of his power and durability before he even stepped into the ring. Garcia is calling for a rematch at a “natural” weight—either 140 or 147 pounds—where no rehydration clauses would be in effect.

While Garcia is eager, Davis is currently navigating a period of inactivity. In January 2026, the WBA officially moved Davis to its “Champion in Recess” list. Davis has been sidelined for much of the last year dealing with severe charges in Florida, including battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping. Despite the inactivity, Davis’ long-time trainer Calvin Ford recently assured fans that Tank will return. But whether Ryan gets his rematch is another guess. Davis is unlikely to move up to 147, where Ryan currently fights, meaning there are still a few hurdles.
“I pray I get my rematch with Tank one day. I need that one back on even grounds. I need that,” Garcia said
