Ryan Garcia Feeling ‘Better And Stronger' For His Comeback

In some recent boxing news, Ryan Garcia has opened on his decision to fight Oscar Duarte on December 2nd, 2023.

Garcia will have his first fight at 140 pounds under the direction of Derrick James following his move up from 135 pounds. This was done in the aftermath of his loss to Gervonta Davis after he was stopped in the seventh round.

Although that may be the case, the result did not come as a surprise since there were concerns over the weight limit coming into the fight.

Garcia had to cope with a 10-pound rehydration clause, which may have taken its toll. But the move up to 140 has not been accompanied by an easy opponent. Duarte is on an 11-fight-knockout streak, which suggests that he will not be a walkover.

And for Garcia, the fighter felt he had to give the fans an entertaining fight.

Garcia On His Next Fight

"Let’s go! I am so excited to announce that I will be fighting Oscar Duarte on December 2. I’m back and feeling better and stronger than before. I wanted Duarte for me and for the fans. He’s tough and I’m ready to give people another show at my best weight again. Say whatever you want about Ryan Garcia, but I’m always going to give the fans what they want. Love you. See you December 2 on DAZN. Location and ticketing will be announced soon," Garcia said

A victory would increase the chances of Garcia fighting for a world title at 140. Unlike other fighters, Garcia’s huge fan base has made him an attractive opponent for anyone, given the money that he can generate.

After all, following the Tank Davis fight, Garcia revealed that he received a staggering $30 million. And with big names such as Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney and Regis Prograis in the division, there are plenty of fights out there for ‘King Ryan.’

And by the looks of it, De La Hoya is already considering making big plans for Garcia. The Golden Boy promoter is looking in to a fight date on Super Bowl weekend next year, which could be against Lopez or Haney.

This is something that Garcia is capable of doing as the promo for the Davis-Garcia fight also made its way to the Super Bowl. But this time around, there is a chance that Garcia could be the A-side given that his profile has increased since the Davis fight even with a loss.

And that would make it easier to get the fights with either Haney or Lopez over the line.

De La Hoya On Garcia

"I was at the Sphere opening, and I cannot tell you how f***ing amazing it is. So imagine Super Bowl Weekend, the Super Bowl of boxing. Ryan Garcia vs Teofimo Lopez or even the winner of Devin Haney vs Regis Prograis," De La Hoya said

Those are some major plans, but before anything of that nature can happen, Garcia must overcome Duarte. And there is no getting away from that.
