Ruiz Warns Crawford To Stay Away From Canelo, Ruiz Slams Hearn Over AJ Trilogy Failure

In the latest boxing news, Andy Ruiz Jr. has warned Terence Crawford from fighting Canelo Alvarez.
The boxers were linked with a fight after Crawford expressed his desire to become a three-division undisputed champion by jumping up three weight classes to fight Alvarez at 168.
The latter was open to the idea initially if the fight made sense. However, following his win over Jermell Charlo, the Mexican ruled out the fight.
Ruiz On Crawford
"But right now, the fight with Terence Crawford, it doesn’t make sense. I just won, let me enjoy this. This is Canelo, I’m finally back. I feel great and I feel happy because I haven’t felt like this in a long time. I’m back," Canelo stated
But in any event, Ruiz did advise Crawford to stay away from facing Canelo who would be the heavy favorite. After all, Ruiz is well aware of what it is like to see Canelo having worked with Eddie Reynoso.
"I think Crawford could be the best in the world around those divisions, but he should stay away from Canelo. Let Canelo do his thing, but I know for sure Crawford will be the face of boxing after Canelo does his thing," Ruiz
Nevertheless, Ruiz has shown that size can be overcome. The Mexican became the unified heavyweight champion when he stopped Anthony Joshua on his American debut.
Despite being dropped, Ruiz got back up to return fire to Joshua who had no answer to the punches that were coming way. And yet, even with the size difference, Ruiz was still competing as a heavyweight.
Ruiz’s Next Fight
Outside of this fight, Ruiz has his own business to take care of. The fighter has been looking for an opponent ever since his fight with Deontay Wilder for the WBC title eliminator broke down.
Disagreements over purse splits could not be overcome after Ruiz refused to accept the 70-30 offer by demanding an equal split. Meanwhile, a trilogy bout with Joshua had also been rumored.
After all, following Ruiz’s win, Joshua managed to avenge his defeat to win the belts back. However, the fight never got made with Ruiz being very vocal about his criticism over Eddie Hearn.
"I don’t think that they want the fight, Eddie Hearn is already traumatised. He doesn’t even want to fight him against anyone good unless they are going to just try and get their money and then leave. Of course, I’d fight him in the UK, I’d go over there. Remember, when I fought him in the rematch I wasn’t good, I was overweight, I forgot everything that I was [meant to be] doing in the rematch. Now, it’s a whole different ball game, now it’s all different," Ruiz stated
In reality, Ruiz cannot afford to live off his past accomplishments which is why he may have to take the lower end of a deal to become the A-side once again. And if the boxer believes in his skills, then there should be no hesitation in doing that.
